I ship several thousand packages a month, and I've yet to find any company that has to ship boxes be cheaper than what I can find locally. If you live in a smaller town or remote area, that may not be true for you.
On that note, the cheapest prices I find are on ebay, for boxes and poly bags.
USPS supplies Priority boxes, and Flat Rate Padded Envelopes as well. I ship a TON of things in those FR envelopes.
Uline USED to be much cheaper if you used coupons for free shipping, but those coupons are few and far between these days.

Back when I used to ship stuff all over the world, I used U-Line. Never had an issue with the box coming apart. This has been over 10 years ago since I shipped stuff, so I can't really comment on their boxes now. 0 -

Have you seen the ones Crutchfield uses. Biodegradable. Just add them to you compost.
Also they do not carry a static charge like the other ones do. So if your cat gets into them he does not carry them all over the house on his body.[:D]0 -

Trust me, I don't WANT to use peanuts, but I ship a lot of plants. And the only way to keep them from getting destroyed is with peanuts! It sucks, but it works.

I don't use the cornstarch ones, because I'm shipping plants. And what happens is when the plants give off moisture, the entire thing turns to mush, then hardens. Then it is a hellova mess, and the plant is ruined. Some plants I ship are $500+ so I have to be very careful!
Those cornstarch ones are great though! When I was working for this guy, we got some in, and he was talking to me, and I casually picked up a handful and ate them.
He FREAKED OUT! He said "You can't eat those! What are you doing?"
And I just kept eating them, saying "Naw, they are fine, won't hurt you a bit!"
It was hilarious, how freaked out he got. [:D]
They taste terrible, btw!

This......exactly. Order everything you can get for free from USPS.com and check with your local guys to see what they quote for special box sizes. I order my long gun boxes and get bubble wrap in these GIANT rolls from those same guys.0 -
