New Remington recall

again involving the trigger group. This time they're going to retrofit a whole new trigger group in the model 700 12 other models of similar design that have been made since 1948, and is listed in the link provided below.

You have 18 months to act on it

According to the link below, You can either send it into Remington or take it into one of their certified repair locations. Here is the list of a certified repair locations in the United States. Not all states have them but if yours does and your close enough as I am it might pay to just take it to the certified repair location.

    Is Remington going to cover shipping costs both ways? I read the article, but it did not mention shipping. I would have to drive to another state to take mine in person.

    I have not had any trouble with my trigger, but thinking about getting the upgraded trigger just for safety reasons.

    I chose to have mine shipped.
    They state that they will pay to have it shipped to a service center and shipped back to me, and they did say to me, not an FFL dealer.
    How does that work?

    If ownership does not change, it's owner to shop and back to the same address... Just don't move while the shop has your rifle....

    They say they will pay for shipping. But I would contact them first at the number in this article

    If you do go at the new trigger group, Timney has three different ones. Do not go with the Jewel trigger group. To change the trigger pull weight you have to change out Springs each time, unless you don't mind taking it apart to change the springs. Timney trigger groups run a little over $100 to a little over $200 depending on which model you buy-

    The Calvin Elite is the best, and you can buy it with either or two stage trigger pull or single stage trigger pull. Both are completely adjustable with a screw. They are the best on the market. If you go with the Calvin Elite you'll never look back...

    Their entry level trigger group is still a good trigger group. And is also adjustable, but it's nothing like the Calvin Elite. It also comes with a wider trigger foot if you prefer wider triggers. But you have to order it that way...

    Like I said if you go with the Timney trigger group, you can take an off the shelf Model 700, which is arguably the most accurate off the shelf firearm ever built and turn it into a competition gun without doing any further upgrades.

    All three will drop in without having to do any modifications

    I've never had a problem with the Walker trigger. My M700 .30-06 that I bought in 1984 has it's trigger adjusted to about 2 3/4 lbs. It's never had a problem.

    My 700MLS has the trigger adjusted to a little over 2 lbs. Likewise, no problems.

    I believe that there is no need to fix it if it ain't broke.

    Does anyone know if the 40X trigger is included in this recall?
    My rifle is an XCR tactical with a 40X trigger.
    Also, I wonder what they are replacing the triggers with. Will it be the attorney approved 12 lb version?

    x mark pro . Have one on my newer long range Remington 25/06. Absolutely no disappointments on how it works. Not as great as my Sig but breaks about 3#
