    In the past 3 weeks two American men, one a hiker guy from North Carolina, were kidnapped and murdered in Mexico by the Cartels.

    Used to be a great place to visit. In 1970 I was 19 and drove all over the country in my van. Had a great time. Met some lonely American girls on a Caribbean Island, Isla Mujeres. That translates to "Woman Island" and I found out what it meant. That one gal was 26 she wanted to teach a young buck a few things.

    I went down there eight more times on vacations always had a good timne. I like the Mexican people and I speak Spanish.

    Times have changed in Mexico. I am not going back.

    greatguns: You drank the water? My God!

    I didn't mention that in my post above, in all 9 of my visits down there I came down with hideous cases of dysentery. Always hit me upon my return to America. Six days of missing work, off to the bathroom every 60 minutes, nasty.
    And, I didn't drink the water.

    Mark down another good reason never to return to Mexico.

    Going back to Costa Rica in March. Have spent a lot of time in Mexico on research projects, mostly on the midriff Islands in the Sea of Cortez. I like it, but it has become a dangerous place.

    People from other countries coming here experience the same thing. Not bad water, just bacteria your system is not accustomed to. I got the revenge while on a desert island there.

    "The revenge." Yes, called "Montezuma's Revenge."

    Well the 'ol Aztec got his revenge on me 9 times and it was no fun.
    I strictly stayed away from the water down there, and subsided solely on beer and booze. Also did not eat fresh fruit which may have been washed in Mexican water like peaches, just ate bananas.

    Maybe you are right Dale it is just bacteria I am not used to.
    Anyway Montezuma's Revenge is some bad bababooey and I do mean some bad bababooey. Some bad vomiting, too.
