speaking of concealed carry renewal

got a package from the state telling me it was time to renew, have to submit all the same notarized and even be fingerprinted again. drove 25 miles to the state police building with all my forms was number 14 in line. two hours and 28 minutes later my number was called. lady looked at my forms and said she couldnt help me until Oct 1. my permit runs out in dec and her system only allows for a 90 day window. i ask "then why did the state send me the forms to renew" she had no idea but she couldnt help me. that is unacceptable service with no one to complain to.

    My renewal is walk in the Civil Division office, Hand the gal my old permit, even a month or two after expiration, she runs me for outstanding warrants, takes my picture and I give her $25.
    Then I sign my permit and go home.

    This is one of the good things about living in a small town. [:D][;)]

    Did my renewal thru the mail. Clerk of Circuit court automatically sent me a renewal app, completed the application, sent in a couple photocopies and a check and received it about three weeks alter in my mail box.

    Just drop your state license and go here http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_NonresidentConcealed.shtm

    However, your state must have reciprocity rights with Virginia and it must work in both states. There are exceptions that work in favor or against you. Do your own homework.

    No renewal notices in NM, but they went to digitized fingerprinting so I will no longer have to get printed each renewal. Renewals are also cheaper.

    Just renewed my Utah one for maybe the third time. Send in form with a new photo and a check for $15. Good for five years.

    SC will let you renew anytime but the 5 years starts then.

    county sheriff sends out renewal notice a few months in advance .Let it lapse and you have to repeat the entire process again in NC

    It seems each county sheriff in NC can do whatever he wants. I've renewed twice before and had to fill out some forms and pay the fee, which is about half price for former LEOs. Last renewal, couple of months ago, I had to take the firearms course. Seems our new sheriff requires this. I checked surrounding counties and found different procedures in all of them, most not requiring the firearms course to renew. Even my instructor said he did not believe it should be required, at least for retired officers. It was easy, just a waste of my time and money.
