Favorite NUT

My taste buds and digestive tract have changed over the years but I still must admit that the CASHEW is still my favorite! A while back one of my sons bought me a can of milk chocolate covered cashews.

I thought I had died and gone to Heaven![:p]

    Korean market has them shelled and peeled ready to eat in bags. They're smaller than the ones you buy in the shell at the market. Also not as wet chalky as the ones in shell.

    Supposedly a few towns over there is a chestnut orchard in Watsonville. One of these years I'll have to see if they sell their wares. Stuff in the shell at the Asian market looks moldy and kind a dry. Like the nut shrank in the shell so it has a lot of air inbetween.

    If someone is buying Pine Nuts. If I'm buying whatever is on sale.

    Brazil Nuts are fairly common but macadamia nuts are my favorite with BEER NUTS being in second place.

    Brazil nuts grow on a huge tree in nut pods and people can be killed by falling Brazil Nuts. Overall a pretty interesting nut.

    I can?t think of a nut I don?t like unless we?re calling pumpkin seeds a nut. My hands down favorite is the Cashew. I can?t afford them but I get a couple of cans every time I go to the Commissary.

    I didn?t like Brazil Nuts when I was a youngster but then one day Brazil Nuts were the only thing left in a can of mixed nuts so I ate one and now I like them too.

    I?ve heard that several of my favorites aren?t technically nuts, but I like them too, even the lowly peanut.

    I think the reason I don?t like pumpkin seeds is when I was a kid I was playing with a goat on Miss Hatchet?s porch. I don?t remember why but I had a stick in my mouth; probably a cigar substitute. The goat decided he didn?t want me on the porch so he pushed me off. I hit the ground stick first and drove it almost through my cheek; the cheek on the side of my head.

    Miss Hatchet got the stick and most of the splinters out but nothing would do but for mom to take me to the doctor to get the rest of them out and do whatever was necessary to stop infection. Part of the doctor?s prescription was to boil pumpkin seeds twice a day and for me to hold that water in my mouth for half an hour. Pumpkin seeds haven?t been one of my favorites ever since.

    Those "Blue Diamond" Smokehouse flavored almonds are also very good!![:p]

    I once bought some off brand smoked almonds and they were GROSS\Sickening [xx(]

    I used to enjoy Planters Dry Roasted peanuts in the jar up until a couple of years ago. They irritated my innards and caused a Diverticulitis attack! Even though I have all of my teeth and chew peanuts into paste before swallowing, that paste turns into "CEMENT" when it passes through me......so sayeth my doctor.

    Peanuts do the exact opposite to me. Better than Ex lax.
