I want to get a 55" tv. walmart has several in the price range of $300-$400. Samsung, LG, Vizio and Roku
looking for suggestions, personal experiences

    I have always been a fan of Samsung flat screens for what it's worth. I've had a number of other brands, including LG, and I still think the Samsung picture is best.

    I currently have four of them.

    one thing I do anymore is look at the reviews posted under whichever item, usually you can find any major problems as those with problems post a lot more than someone who has no trouble with an item. at least it gives you something to look for good or bad

    They have a nice 60" TV in their Walmart Black Friday Sale,
    and several 55" ones too.

    Get the $3 one. Heck, get 10 of them. Still cheaper than the $400 unit.

    Another Samsung vote - best bang for the buck. Make sure you match the TV's capabilities to your planned use (smart TV, etc.).

    I was told by a well trained TV tech, if the brand name doesn't start with a "S" do not buy it.....I think he's right too from my past experience [:)] so it looks like the Samsung is your best choice of those offered [;)]

    One thing we've learned when we bought a new set was the one we got only had an optical audio out. I wanted an analog audio out so I could use my existing amp and speakers but the amp doesn't have a optical connection and I couldn't find a converter etc to make a simple connection so my wife's wireless headphones won't work and I've got to listen to some of her programs[V]

    Just one of those little things that could make life simpler[:(]

    I got the ROKU about a year ago. They offer so many free channels, that I haven't even got through a quarter of them yet. My 2yr old Vizio upstairs still has the best picture quality. I gave my old Vizio to my kid, and it's going on 7yrs without a glitch.

    Bought a TCL Roku (43") a year ago and am very pleased. We stream a lot especially old movies. Easy to switch from Roku to OTA antenna with the remote. Also, subscribe to Sling TV.

    We have an 80" Vizio and I love it, cost less than most size for size.

    The 4K is amazing and the picture is as good as any.

    Have two of these, first was a 36 ", used it for 3 years then it went down stairs, nothing wrong with it, just not HD.

    Got a 48" 4k Smart version last year, Gets all the extra Internet apps Vudo, Netflix, Amazon and others. No room in the living room for anything bigger, too many windows and short walls.

    Never had a problem with Samsung TV's Tube Type and Flat Screens. I'll never get another sony, great tube type but Flat screens expensive and and didn't last over 2 years.

    Never had an LG flat screen but see a lot of them priced really rock bottom overseas.

    Whatever you get, get a smart tv. I bought one at Walmart for the wife's craft room. She can watch Netflix, Amazon and roku while crafting.

    One that offers web surfing would also be great!

    We have 3 Vizio TVs. Picture quality is fine, at least to my eyes, and they've been in service some time now...so far so good.

    Really? And I was told Vizo was the best model by a TV expert who works with them daily.

    Another tech said all TV's are made by 3 or 4 companies .. they just put different names on them.

    Yes, but built to each brands engineering specifications....thus the price, quality and warranty differences [;)]

    Just bought a 55" TCL thru recommendation of my A/V guy & gotta say it's awesome. Wish I would have got one of these instead of my last Samsung. It runs the Apps great. The Samsung Roku App is slow & doesn't work most of the time. A/V guy say's it's a licensing problem between the two companies. Not sure about the real problem, but all I can say is go with the TCL you won't be disappointed.

    Decades ago I bought Panasonic and years later I went with Sony but about 12 years ago I went with Samsung and have four of them now. Great product.
