A Mothers Love Where You Don't Expect It

I just saw something I've never seen before.

I have a puppy, five weeks old, that I'm giving a scoop of canned food every morning.

Her mom is the best dog mother I've ever seen. She bore her puppies, two stillborn, one alive and has stayed with this puppy except for eating and going outside to crap.

She has been getting a bowl of dry food in the kitchen while I give the baby a little bowl of the canned food in the 2nd bathroom.

This morning, mom came in early and saw the babys bowl. She sniffed the food and sat down next to her watching her eat. Mom did not gobble it down like every other dog mom I have raised in 40 years. The baby walked away and only then did mom eat what was left.

If that is not a higher level of love then I don't know.

    What kind of Dog?

    I have raised several Golden Retrievers and the Mom was always very attentive to the pups, The Dad not so much.

    Sam, it's a mixed breed about a foot and a half tall. Brown nose and short hair.
    I have a lot of good moms, but never one that would let the baby eat canned food while she waited.
