Project, score!
Some you will see this as a pile of junk but I see $$ waiting to be unleashed. 1979 F-250 with the original 400, 4X4 C6 auto. Needs bedsides due to rust but the rest is solid, easy fix! For what these things with good paint go for on ebarf I stole this thing, now I have to get it moved from Iowa to my place. Not what I wanted for a camper yanker, I wanted older and 2 wheel drive but this will work, hell I can paint it and sell it then buy what I wanted.

I had a 77 3/4 ton 4 speed 360 it loved gas as much as I liked it. I kept it for several years it needed new tires and some minor work at the time I did not have the money to spend ..
a co-worker of my wife's bought it kept it for many years0 -

I don't see the rust you mention. How hard are the panels to get?
The rust is above the wheels on the sides of the bed, eaisly patched but it has the tool box on one side and dual tanks on the other sode so I?m swap out the complete sides since they are simple to do, just a bunch of spot welds.
And it is going to look good alongside my other ?79, this one is a ?79 F-150 that someone took out the 6 banger and replaced it with a 390, 4 speed is factory.0 -
looking at them earlier tonight, really wanting to go old school myself, really tired of the new crap mechanics on new cars
and yes the prices are through the roof, there is a nice fully restored one on fleaybay right now for 30k
man if i had a place to store all those 60's-70's-80's cars i had i could retire , who woulda thunk a gremlin would be work 20k?0 -

We are wanting a 5th wheel camper, this truck just begs to ?get high? and if lifted the 5th wheel is pretty much out. This is why I wanted a 2WD, to avoid the temptation of building a High boy out of this, the grey truck is already planned to be lifted.
I love Ford trucks, the older the better, these 70s model trucks to me look mean and agressive, they are my favorite body style. I prefer driving that ?79 over that ?15 Ram we have, even with that Hemi I would rather drive the old one. I had no trouble selling my F-250 with the 6.0 when it was time to let it go, I still miss that old girl.0 -
It would've been more better if it were pre smog unless where you live this ain't a thing. Then cut a hole in the hood and slap a blower [:D]. 0 -
I loved the look of the late 70's Ford pickups, but I preferred the gas milage of the 80's and later.
That 4x4 should be great to have in Montana in the winter.

That is going to make a good camper puller. Good thirsty trucks.
My 79 F-250 was a 2WD, 460cu with 4:10 gears. 10mpg down hill. That thing pulled my 31' bumper pull 1,000s of miles. It would climb a tree if it could get traction. Excellent truck. I replaced it with a 1989 250 with a 460 fuel injected. 10mpg down hill. Still got the 89 with 118,000 miles and zero rust through. It still looks like this except the paint has faded off the hood and front fenders. The truck also has a 45 gallon aftermarket fuel tank which came in handy.0 -
I rather enjoyed watching Ford's pickups drive down the local roads with the bed sides flapping in the breeze.
