slicer help

I have a DAVPOL slicer that is at least 25 years old that needs 2 belts. the company is no longer in business and I have checked/looked for everything I can think of to find the belts. maybe someone can think of some place I didn't try. I hate to junk it. it is like brand new and only used about 6-8 times
ser. # 424
mod. #220 VS
only number on the belt 6x280 and looks like the word continental
made in italy

    I would guess a 6L280 belt.

    Continental ContiTech perhaps?

    Go to Grainger.com and look at a 6L280 belt to see if that is what you be needing.

    I recently bought a small belt for a craftsman sharpener on line. Polybelt.com. also a vacuum cleaner shop may have something for you. I bought a belt for my harbor freight tumbler at a local appliance shop in their vacuum cleaner section. We have a bissel carpet cleaner. It takes two small toothed belts. There's hope after all.

    never thought about vacuum cleaner sales
    that is the reason I asked here[:)]

    6mm is about 1/4 they do not list in metric.

    I contacted them and the guy returned my call last night about 7:30
    he explained they don't make belts. they have them made. that being said he told me he would have to order the minimum witch may be a dozen and would have to charge me for all. which I under stand
    I sent him pictures this morning, so waiting to hear the cost[:(]

    If you can post a pic of the belt next to a ruler, there is a good
    chance I can find a replacement. In the race engine building trades,
    we "found" and used similar belts to drive oil pumps, vacuum, fuel, and even tachometers.

    Just an example of a belt we use that measures 27".

    This one is 21", there are dozens more and different teeth/groves.

    If it is a v belt and they don't have it, a toothed cog belt may work for you in the rigth size.

    I toss my 2 cents in
    how about a old sewing machine belt they had have a lot of different sizes I remember my mom buying them for her old singer
    possibly checka sewing fabric store joanns (sp ) around here

    Hey! If we can't help out a fellow gun nut, what good are we???

    Who knows, I like 1911 pistols, you might find an "old war horse" of one made by the Singer sewing machine co. and sell it to me for $300.

    That is definitely a shallow V-belt as suggested, metric sized.

    We are looking for the 6 x 280 belts you need. The suppliers we have been using do not have these, but we are connecting with other suppliers who handle metric belts.
