    I saw that. Notice the motorist who come up behind the criminal. Puts it in reverse and skillfully backs out of sight.

    The border problem isn't just for Arizona and the other border states.

    I might have rammed that door with my truck. I have good pipe bumpers [;)]

    But then again, I don't need to fight some scam lawsuit by the open border gang.

    We need to start holding judges responsible, they let too many criminals walk (Accoster and such) and they're not upholding their oath of office. [:(!]


    But with all those shots fired, must be some lousy shots and need some training.

    I will give the LEO this, he sounds amazingly controlled on the radio given the events. Heck, it looks like the suspect even did a reload mid shooting. As for training issues, maybe, always something to be learned after an event. That being said, a toe to toe gunfight can be a bit unsettling to say the least. Being in one sure ain't some video game! That LEO is damn happy not to have sprung any leaks 'cuz the shooter was determined. The officer went home that night...makes it overall a good day.

    Good question Sam. In fact, unless the tape was edited, I didn't even hear a description being put out. I did hear him repeatedly saying "shots fired". Yeah, we got that. Ya really only need to say that one time. Get your head in the game, save your breath, broadcast some pertinent info and concentrate on putting return fire into the idiot. If the deputy was in the car, and Pedro was at the front bumper dumping rounds at him, mashing the accelerator would sure have resolved the issue real quick.

    Chris there is another video from behind the cop taken by a bystander. The Cop car is a SUV(Explorer??) and the Cop got behind the SUV for protection when Pedro came out shooting.

    I think both of them did a reload. I could not ID the gun Pedro had but it looked Glocky.

    I don't know what I would have done but I think if I was the Cop I would have tried to move around to the passenger side of the cop car and got an angle on the shooter through the back glass and still use the engine and front wheel as cover.

    Although we have seen these videos far too often it is always shocking to me how quickly the suspect/shooter escalates the situation.

    Cops are always at the disadvantage.

    No disagreement there Sam. Having been "on the dime" so to speak, you many more times than I, where seconds can seem like hours and response/action/movement can mean the difference between coming out on top or a loved one getting the dreaded "knock on the door". This deputy was just damn fortunate. An ambush, no matter where it occurs, really boils down to 1) getting brain freeze/failing to act and being taken out or 2) moving on it, using terrain/obstacles/angles/whatever is available to one's advantage and either putting the assailant(s) out of action or, at the very least, getting the hell outta the zone. Failing to get aggressive, go on the offense or find a way out is simply death.
    I only had a minute to look at the video and was attempting to get a quick round count on the shooter but was unable to differentiate the deputy's shots from the knucklehead, who was definitely one determined a**hole. He was right in the 14-15 round range though before doing a mag change.

    Note when the guy drove off, he let a female passenger out of the car.
    There's something else you have to watch for returning fire.

    Absolute miracle the cop was not hit!!

    Lets see, we have video from two sources, several witnesses, and the suspect stating that he wants to die.
    There is no reason his trial and execution should last more than a month.
    Yet it will and he will probably be released in a few years.

    Seems to me like the officer kept backing away from his cover. Why not just stay at the back of his patrol unit, drop to the ground and take out the bad guys legs from under the vehicle ?

    Then when he fell to the pavement put a couple in his head.


    Just not sure what running backwards to be out in the open was a good idea. He didn't get shot so I guess he had something working for him.

    Reaction is always slower than action. The bad guy has a plan, and has already picked his target. The officer can only hope his reaction is satisfactory enough to end the fight and survive the encounter.

    Because bullets were zipping through his "cover". Rounds were going through the windshield, through the prisoner partition and through the tailgate and continuing on.

    Yep, as stated above, these encounters ain?t like TV shows or video games. Coulda, shoulda, I woulda, doesn?t count. Fortunately 99.9% of this world never has to be anywhere near something like this. You just never know unless you?ve been ?on the dime? so to speak.
