bacon ?

does bacon keep well if vacuum sealed and frozen. my local store sells Kunzler bacon for $4.69 per pound. I can travel 15 miles where we do our major shopping and get a 10 pound box for $36.
at the very most we eat only 10 strips per week and that is not all the time

    BUT, I have bought 10lb boxes of bacon many times,{you can never have enuff bacon], and many times the bulk boxes are NOT the same quality as the one lb packs.
    You may be getting more pieces of "2nd cut sizes". Small short pieces, trimmings and the such.


    ......I just checked the Knusher website and it seems their 10 pounders are of the same as the one pound packs. Just make sure of it before you buy.[;)]

    NEVER trust the expiration dates on packaged bacon when just left in the refrigerator!!! Ask me how I know![V]

    Most smoked and cured bacon has expiration dates that go well over a month from purchase. These dates do not hold up just under refrigeration! It gets milky and very slimy! A sign of high bacteria activity. I now freeze bacon if it is not to be consumed within a few days.

    my local store displays the 10 # box in their meat case. they just sell it by the pound
