Its been a busy 5 days.....a grand tale of driving
I had a trip scheduled to drive to Missouri to pick up two consignors firearms. So, I had to finish all the pictures and go over things, leaving Barry and Shelby here to handle things while I was gone.
I get on the road and get word that my sister is running up to take my mother to the hospital because she isn't feeling good. By the time I'm in Arkansas I hear that they have taken her by ambulance to the hospital because she was worse than expected when my sister got to her.
I made it to Missouri and got in the room. There is a steakhouse across the road so I ran over there to grab a meal to take to the room. I ordered a ribeye with a couple sides and while I waited I sat at the bar and got a long island ice tea (it was less "stout" than I needed at the time.) I had hoped someone would ask my name and what I did for a living because I was totally prepared to tell them I was Lola, working as a showgirl.....but I didn't have a feather in my hair to really pull it off.
I couldn't sleep for CRAP. I was hot....then cold....then couldn't get the idea of bed bugs out of my head and had to strip the bed down to check....then, got tangled up in the duvet cover and scratched the heck out of my right elbow with my left thumbnail! (not a comfortable night at all)
When 4am rolls around my Ipad starts pinging because of messages. They are air lifting my mother from one hospital to another. Her blood pressure is dangerously low and they are moving her to an MICU unit an hour away from the hospital she is in.
The morning comes and I meet my two consignors......its 10am and I'm back on the road. On the way back my father in law calls to tell me that "its not an emergency, but they are taking my mother in law to the hospital to get checked." She is light headed and not feeling herself at all.
So, I'm 10 hours away and both mothers are in the hospital. There isn't much I can do, but my father in law calls me several times to give me the same message. He cannot hear and thinks he has called different people....but he is just calling me over and over again.
I drop by a Cracker Barrel to get something to eat and a bag of the snacks you can only find at a Cracker Barrel for the ride. Lemon strings are to DIE FOR! (So good)
This is when I get the call from Larry checking on where I am and asking if I "ok'd the girl Liam has currently in HIS ROOM" (my one and only rule for my adult son is NO GIRLS IN YOUR ROOM.) I tell Larry I am fine and that I had NO CLUE about any girl. I tell Larry to get rid of the gal because if they haven't handled that by the time I get there I will NOT be a pleasant person.
I get home and the girl is about to leave....she is talking to Larry about her job as an EMT. I liked her a lot and told her I was sorry for any wrong first impression I may have given. She says it is understandable and they have the same rules at her house.
We have the in-laws Thanksgiving planned for the following day. Larry is cooking some campfire cooking thing he has learned to make from watchinh a p p youtube guy. It has corn, bacon, stuff and other things in it, and cheese from what I can tell. Its good, but looks like something you'd slop onto a plate for orphans in a movie. My mother in law looks good, tired, but good.
I am reminded that my daughter is bringing my grandson over that night to spend two days with us. She and her husband have a fly fishing trip planned for their anniversary.
So, I'm coming at the end of an eventful few days. Mother is better....not "good" but she is out of the woods. My daughter is on the way back from their trip so I will be handing over the baby in a bit.
I'm just glad to be home and not stuck in that duvet cover for the rest of my days!

Was there any stuffing left....[:D] 0 -
From what I could tell.....someone brought a bit of stuffing to the get together, but by the time I got my plate it was all gone. There was PLENTY of Larry's stuff left. I think people were just afraid to try it.
(Thats what I told him anyway.) [:D]0 -
Your life is about 1000x more exciting than my own. I don't think I could handle yours! [8D]
