i wen't to a fast food restaurnt today to get a quick meal before going to class tonight. my total came to $7.49. i gave the cashier 3 one dollar bills and 1 five dollar bill. the cashier tried to count my money by counting the dollar bills first then got stuck when he had to add the five dollar bill. he had to start over with the $5.00 and then the $1.00's. when he figured out that he had $8.00 he had to put the amount into a calculator to figure out that i needed $0.51 change. i blame the schools for this for allowing students to use calculators in too early of grades. i may not be the best a spelling or grammer but my job doesn't require it unlike a cashier doing math.

Very true. I read a while ago that only 25% (I think) of US youth were fit, physically and mentally, to meet enlistment requirements.

We're all too hooked on indoor sports and very few kids nowadays go outside to play.

I've fallen prey to the evil evil iPad myself. I sit on my arse and surf way too much. But, I'm 62 and have already done my time...

When I Joined in 1974 I could not do one Complete Pullup. If it was just my nose above the bar I could do 20 easily but my chin never. Bucking hay and other farm work had built up my arms they just would not bend that way.

But when I graduated I could do 10 and with my other scores was enough for me to graduate.

Funny thing was just before I retired I did the PFT. Now this was after having a heart attack and I was not supposed to run a PFT. I did 20 pullups(max needed) 80 Situps(again Max). The run I did in 20 minutes Not max. But I could not run with the group, So started after them and went 1/4 mile past the turn around so I could bring in the stragglers from my Platoon. Still got a 20 flat. All my guys passed cause they did not want the Old man Passing them.

But when I retired I had given up smoking and drinking. So I was in much better shape.

I was always glad pull-ups weren't on the PT test. Thanks to HS football I could max the push-ups, situps and sometimes the run but pull-ups were impossible due to the weightlifting we did that specialized on lower body strength.

Its crazy how lazy parents are when it comes to what they feed their kids. I hear people say "he won't eat that" and "he only likes three things"......and they reward their kids with every kind of garbage thing Little Debbie makes. They wouldn't even go as far as to buy the extra easy steam in the bag broccoli tops because they KNOW their little fat faced baby wouldn't LIKE it. Its like they are brain dead when it comes to what might be best for their kids.

These same morons are all for taking kids away from bad people.....while they are slowly killing their own with food.
