    are you just needing the gear made or the shaft also? material?
    i can see this part was splined internal and depended on a locknut to anchor it on the shaft. the locknut failed, the miter gear advance towards the shaft end and chipped the corners off the teeth.
    actually, if you can machine the shaft/spline damage down to the point of removing the gear from the shaft and dressing up the gear appropriately, there is no need in gear replacement unless there are more severe tooth damage not pictured
    the shaft is toast tho as it will not have any anchoring area
    i would also be worried about the condition of the gearing this gear mated up with, i am sure it is equally suspect.

    its the Pinion gear out of a boat lower motor.
    hit a submerged log and busted the hub and the the pinion
    also bent the shaft just a tad but the busted nut got into the forward gear and broke one of the teeth.
    cant find a complet lower for the motor as they no longer make them
    but there is a place in Fort worth that refabs them with all new parts.
    thank goodness I keep ins. on the barge over 2 grand for the evey thing when its said and done. but ins is footing the repair bill

    Back in 89 I bought a new boat that had a defect that caused the pinion to shear a cog. It was a defect on all the OMCs produced in 89. thank goodness it was under recall, because they said it would run me two Grand also so to have it fixed, and it was 2 months out of warranty when it's sheared..

    remember that a boat is only a hole in the water surrounded by fiberglass in which you throw your money into....

    I run a boat on a small river and only use aluminum for that reason.[;)]

    I had the middle unit (gear box) stolen from our big OMC while the boat was on our lift[xx(]. Lower unit was laying on the bottom of the lake[?]. Lucky to find a replacement. Guy up in Greenbay found one for me. Said it was the last one available and after I got the bill I believed him.

    Yep, it's an excellent idea. You Just lose just a little bit getting out of the hole up onto plane, but top end is not affected at all by an aluminum prop. Plus it only costs about $40 to repair an aluminum prop. Ask me how I know[V]
