Ac rant/ How is your day going?
Central ac went out today ! Triple digit heat index and about the same tomorrow. My ac guy is coming in the early am . From my description he thinks the compressor fan is going bad . Will take longer to go to town to get it than it will to change it out . Sure hope that is all . Lucky for me I could rob the window units from my son in laws shop for the bedrooms tonight And how is your day going?

Thanks for asking. [:D] 108 today and the power went out at 5:00 this evening. Out for about a half hour. Started prepping the generator.
Sunday morning swamp motor went out, changed it in the heat, new motor lasted one day and would not fire up yesterday, so round 2 in the heat. Been over 100 for awhile. Was working great until the power went out LOL.

You think you have trouble? My Lodge voted to replace 4 5-ton A/C units last night to the tune of $28,400. The old ones are 38 years old, and R22 is going to be outlawed in 2020. Luckily, we made a very good investment about 15 years ago. A $15,000 investment turned into $73,000 in April. Wish I had put my $$$ into the same fund! 0 -
sorry to hear we have got use to crature conforts like heat and cool houses and cars [:D][:D]
ours did the same several years ago 4 maybe 5 years ) the local guy we have do the a/c work was not on there list of approved repairmen ( I think it was train ) they would not sell any replacement parts to him he had not been certified by there company .
the repair cost was crazy any way, so we just went with a different brand . but for about two weeks we were in limbo trying to find some one local and also the warranty on the bad part was still good but not the labor to change it
finly said screw you ( to train ) and went on our way . used window units until replacement was complete0 -
calling for 102 here. We don't have A/C.
Oh well,not like it's a global thing,we will be back to 20-30 below in just a couple months. Then we turn on the heater. We have heaters.0 -
I feel for you but I can't reach. I work on AC in the tractors, combines, and trucks during the growing season and harvest. The only time I get to enjoy AC is when I am running between jobs. I've been working 42 years in UNAIRCONDITIONED shops. 0 -
I don't have AC in the house so I don't really have any comment. The only time I use AC is on the John Deere. 0 -
I've always wondered . . . if one could place a strong box fan atop their AC condenser and get the condenser to run if the internal fan crapped out. 0 -
Last Sat and Sun it was in the 90's with the heat index in the low 100's. I turned on the furnace fan first thing in the morning to bring up some cool air from the basement before turning on the air. As soon as I hit the switch I could tell something was wrong. The fan was just barely running. After a quick search on the interweb I went down and checked the run capacitor. It was stone cold dead, and the motor was pretty hot.
The worst part was that there was no place to purchase a cap on Saturday. So Monday morning I went on a search, found the cap, replaced it, and all is well.
Brought back memories as a kid without A/C in the sweltering summer heat. Can't say that I miss it. [:D]0 -

Over 90 way up here on the shores of the Puget Sound. Have had several days similar. Haven't broke and fired up the Bedroom Window unit (only A/C we own) yet. Maybe Today. 0 -
New fan motor , capacitor and about an hours work and all is cool again . Now the wife is happy again 0 -
My AC went out about 6 weeks back. Luckily it was only a capacitor and a fuse, but still had to suffer over the weekend with no AC in the house. Hope it turns out all right for you. 0 -

104.2? fever - spent last night curdled up on the bathroom floor with the dog periodically vomiting - covered in sweat
Must have gotten some modicum of relief and sleep. Took my normal am meds - ate about 30 stale dry cheese itz crackers and drank a bottle of dasani
Put all the animals out on the covered / screened porch and watched them frolic and cohort:
Brought them all in and provided sustenance and shelter
Going back to sleep

No worries about A/C because I ain't got no costly A/C or hot water and only a clothes line and a breeze. So, things going pretty good.
Expect my water/gas/electricity bills to be less and $40.00. Plus Internet $25.00 but I pay for 4meg. Yep, $70 per month for utilities and best of all,, cut the cable. Internet is on phone line,, OH,, free nationwide phone calls included.
Cellphones "prepaid", thus you can talk all you want for free using WiFi calling, or whatsapp totally free. [:D][:D]0 -
Mr mike is my hero .Whenever I am tempted to take myself and my arthritis too seriously I can think about Mike and realize how blessed I am .The strength and endurance the man has is an inspiration .No more rant from me about piddling stuff 0 -

Just got a 2,400 bill for the wife's 2008 Lexus...labor rates here are killers.
AC compressor went out, and it was 110 on Tuesday here. The CV boot was also torn, as I saw little blobs of grease all over the lower part of the engine and around the boot when I did the last oil change. [B)]
Unknown to me the water pump was failing, leaking coolant all over the engine block. I mistook the pink coolant stains on the garage floor for the axle grease I knew about. [:0]
I replaced the whole axle since the CV joint had lost a lot of grease and had dirt that crept into it... the price for a new axle/CV wasn't much more than pulling it and replacing the CV (with labor added). [:(]
Aaaand, when the hoses were pulled from the radiator to get to the water pump the upper radiator neck was as soft as a toilet paper tube. The radiator had to be replaced as well. [xx(]

I started stocking misc. capacitors in my garage over the last few months. So far, I've fixed 15 units (neighbors/friends) since May.
95% of the time it's the cap ($15 part from amazon) and is typically a $150 service fee...
Sucks sometimes if you don't live near a place that can/will sell you parts.0 -

mine all started last week
to start it off my master bathrooms tub leaked into the closet
got the tile off and ready the tube to come out the next afternoon after work well got home and went to start and it seemed warm in the house. well ac was not working ran to home depot and bought a window unit to use that night, ac guy shows up in the am turns out to be a capacitor [^] 600 bucks later we have air (400 for window unit) (200)ac guy.
then on the fourth day the washer craps out and we go buy a new washer and dryer. [B)]
