What the heck do the Chinese put into

Their plastic and rubber products that smells so damn strong?

I bought an insert for the console compartment on my new Silverado on line, I didn't know when I bought it that it was from China as the business is located in Ohio. The part arrived and I could smell it before I opened the mail box, took it out of the box and set it on the bench in my garage, now the whole garage smells like Harbor Freight.

I set it out in the sun for two days and no joy. My gosh, the fumes will burn your eyes. What kind of crap do they manufacture with that smells so strong? I can't even put this thing in my truck.

Wonder how long (if ever) it will take to off gas to the point I could actually use it.

    I would suggest the dishwasher.

    I got some LED String lights. The Outdoor kind. Make sure to open that package outside. Very strong solvent glue smell.

    I was reading an article that said the insulation around electrical wires from China are made with vegetable oil. I guess they're having a big problem with mice chewing through wiring because of it...

    So maybe what you're smelling is Rancid vegetable oil

    I take the pain med Aleve for pain. My wife just pointed out that Aleve in made in China according to the package. Me no takie no more.

    You'd be surprised to know where most medicines are manufactured. Most in China and India.

    I bought my SIL a Deer/game cart from Cabela's one Christmas. When it came I could smell it thru the box. Turned out to be made in China, and it was the rubber? tires that smelled so bad, stunk up the whole room. I waited about a week thinking it would dissipate. It didn't. I called Cabela's and sent it back. They sent me another one, same model but it didn't stink. Made me wonder too. I try not to buy most Chinese made stuff and never packaged foods but sometimes it's all you can find.

    did it make the dishwasher smell like new??????[;)] freebreeze is supposed to cut smell, might try it

    Actually, it made the dishwasher smell like Harbor Freight also, had to run two more cycles to get it out of the dishwasher.

    I've used Febreze, alcohol, peroxide, etc, I suspect that if the odor ever does go away, it will be a looooooooooooooooog time.

    I buy several products direct from China. Most have a strong hot mustard-smell.

    maybe same poison they put in the sheet rock that went to florida years ago for new houses after a hurrican....POISON...owners couldn't live inem , could not sell them ....SCREWED by chinee...give em BIG TARIFF

    Seriously, it could be formaldehyde (embalming fluid), it's in many products.....maybe ?? [V]

    The sheetrock was made with high sulfur coal fly ash. Water vapor makes an acidic gas that eats wiring, plumbing, mirrors, appliances (and your little doggy too!)

    Urea/ formaldehyde foam. Get the mix of ingredients off just a hair, some of the ingredients do not react. Smell worse than a wet goat.
