My Garand.

Doc
Just have the one. Nothing special. H&R dated 7-54. Put a new walnut stock on it to replace the truly horrible wood that came on it.

    Never had a desire to own one, until I got on the forums. I bought one about five years ago on GB. Nothing spectacular, just a springfield. I do have to admit though, it is in the top five, of my favorite guns. I shoot it more than the rest. I left it to Chris Streett in my will, along with a chit load of ammo. Oak

    Standard issue for the USMC @ MCRD San diego.1957,Plt 299..

    At that time we were told that If we lost one it would cost us
    $99.00. Which was a Sh--load for a Pvt E nothing.

    Guess there is some nostalgia value for some people.
    I have no such a thing.

    Looks good, Doc.

    I have had an issue with the bedding of a M1-D in that as the rifle warmed up, the POI changed, but have never had an issue with any of them with the iron sights.

    Hope you enjoy shooting yours as much as I enjoy shooting mine.

    Excellent US Generals called the Garand the greatest rifle of all time. It is true. For its era and evermore. To know a garand is to understand it is one outstanding work of industrial art...

    Not to mention a accurate and all around great gun. Good luck with yours Doc!

    Coincidently I had mine at the range today and was trying some new loads using Varget and 150gr HDY FMJBTs. First time I ever used Varget in the M1 and was very impressed.

    Thanks Oak, but I?d really rather ya just keep yerself healthy. I?ll meet ya at the range, you bring the Garand, Ill contribute a toy or two. We can burn a little powder then sample some brown liquor afterwards while telling a few lies and solving some of the world?s bigger problems. What do ya say?

    I've had a couple for some time & sold one. Still haven't fired either of them.
    I still have memories of the m-1 thumb I got in Basic in 58. At least with the M-14 you wouldn't have to worry about that.

    Can do!!! We need to get together real soon. Was going to the mountains this weekend, but my sons truck broke down and he needed to use mine. My sister came in from Texas, and wanted to go up. Maybe next year[V]

    Don't know who made the stock. Got it at a local show as used but never mounted. The smith (without asking) put a coat of stain on it.

    Just have one and I too had to replace the stock on mine. But I need to re-barrel it also. Just haven't taken it to my gunsmith yet.
