    Buffalo bore has a 180 grain at 1500 I would like to see what length barrel they got those numbers

    +1 If you want a step up in power, then get a step up in caliber.


    If you want 180 grain .357 at 1500fps , then you should be looking at a .44 magnum to obtain that energy level. If you want a .38Spl +P performance then buy a .357 magnum.

    On the one end of the spectrum of platforms I have that accept / utilize the .357 magnum cartridge - including hot loads and/or high pressure loads are a variety of long guns (rifles or carbines)

    For example:

    Uberti baby rolling block carbine chambered in .357 magnum

    New England Firearms single shot break open carbine in .357 maximum

    I also have some specialized handguns that fall into the same class

    For example:

    Great Western single action army revolver chambered in .357 Atomic

    Rossi / MagTech single shot top break pistol chambered in .357 magnum

    So with these above referenced examples I can safely utilize a wide variety of cartridges including but not limited to so called bot or high pressure / carbine or rifle only .357 magnum ammunition

    I routinely place targets at the 100 yd known distance range

    Conversely I also can and do use light and/or low pressure interchangeable / compatible cartridges via these platforms

    For example I have a good supply of .38 long colt double end copper coated target wadcutters for use in the baby rolling block carbine

    A veritable cornucopia of .38 special offerings can and do see use in these guns

    While these platform examples may not be standard fair using common fodder they are not unicorns or white whales made from unobtainium.

    Justifiable and safe use of hot or high pressure .357 magnum ammunition

    I will admit that finding correctly head stamped .357.Atomic brass (original or NOS) is often a difficult and daunting task...

    I have 99 original loaded rounds with the correct nomenclature or headstamp - and 36 empty cases (Herters)


    Apropos of nothing - Herters also makes / made my beloved Blue Wanda's

    Deep cuts.

    Actually the original 357 load was 158 grain bullet at 1500 out of a 8 3/8 barrel most modern loads are watered down

    I remember one guy who bought a Ruger Redhawk in 357 because he wanted to develop some super hot loads. Can remember him telling me how much powder he was using in his reloads and it scared me to the point I moved a safe distance away. Surprisingly the Ruger survived.

    I failed to understand his logic, if he wants that much power why not buy a Redhawk in 45 Casull.

    A few thoughts on this ammo.

    1. They use a 10" test barrel to achieve that velocity.

    2. The ammo is manufactured in Serbia and nowhere do they mention SAMMI specs on their website.



    I would not feed a K-frame a steady diet of this ammo. YMMV.

    Watch Dan Wesson 357 the firing pin will break on a hot load.

    Broke a friend of my Dan Wesson with my loads. Worked great in my S&W. But after his broke I looked closer at my Shells and found the Primer pocket was deforming. So I cut back what I was using to include changing Powder. I was safe as far as how much I used but think Compression of the powder may have increased pressure.
