Well I sent a rifle to New Mexico standard mail. Priority takes two days.. so it arrived in two days. Maybe a fluke.. Well I mailed one to Illinois the same way standard mail... it gets there today the same way.. in 2 days... just a little info that they don't have to go priority. And you will save a bundle in shipping.

Well, I am 100 yards from one and that makes mailing easy. Still better than the others, imo, rate wise ect. My latest escapade, sent a complete Smith 41 barrel assembly to a guy. Was in Hawaii for a few days but made it back safely. [:I] 0 -
usps has almost always worked well for me. one time some idiot there thought "Ca." meant Canada [:0] 0 -

We don't use it directly, but do use USPS and UPS Tracking through our Amazon Orders. It can be a little sketchy at times, but seems to give us the information we need; mainly arrived locally, out for delivery, or "in our box or by our door". Since we live out in the country, it saves walking out to the mailbox to check! [:D] 0 -
USPS can drive you up the wall. I had a package I mailed out as a first class package sent from Reno last Saturday at 1:30PM it was delivered in New Jersey Monday. The Priority envelope that I mailed last Wednesday from the same location shows it's out for delivery in Alabama today. 0 -

I have had many packages show stalled out or just a tracking number in the system but already have the package delivered to me or one of my favorite's a package making a USA tour get to a local PO that passes them on to my local PO, and then see it get shipped back to some other state for a week + bouncing around .0 -
I am chairman of a charity board for the Grand Lodge of Arkansas. I forwarded a check for $1500 to be presented to a young lady for a scholarship in memory of her late father. It was mailed at the Post Office on the 9th of August and has not been received yet. What bothers me most is that I can receive 50-60 pieces of junk mail a week, but let me mail an important document, it gets lost. [:0] If I knew it would be this much trouble, I would have driven 7 hours round trip to hand it to her!
We are going to stop payment on the original, and issue another, but this time it will be sent certified or special delivery.0 -
cant even come close to estimated delivery. And the next time it shows up a day early! If I ran my business the way they operate, I would be livin on the street !!! 0 -
I am currently tracking a safety for one of my pistols for them. It makes no sense to me. 0 -
and now UPS is handing USPS some packages for final delivery and USPS cannot even access UPS website to verify that they have received a UPS package for delivery. (so usps says)
I've had UPS packages laid up in USPS P.O. for 3-5 days before leaving for the final 20 minutes of delivery.
Almost had to get my Horse saddled and go get the final leg of the pony express delivery myself.[;)]0 -
I like USPS best, but sometimes interesting things happen. Sometimes things arrive in Albuquerque then take the scenic route to my PO Box, via to another town and back. So far they have visited Grants, 70 miles West, Peralta, near Santa Fe 70 miles north and one of the Pueblos, about 45 miles away. 0 -

I've had pretty good luck with their tracking system as long as it's not a UPS package that's been turned over to the USPS for the home delivery. When that happens who knows when it's going to show up? 0 -

I pay Federal mainly because of our IRAs & the marriage penalty on the tax on Social Security but none to Kalifornia.
Word of warning, wipe out your IRA BEFORE you start taking Social Security. Live on the IRA & delay Social Security. Your IRA withdrawals will increase the Social Security tax.

Used to but not any better than most others since Civil Service went away.
Part of the problem with the USPS "tracking system" is due to micro-management issues. Mid-level managers have adopted a CYA plan that basically overloads the scanners with extraneous input as employees are required to scan so many things that aren't mail.
I retired in 2009 and this was just beginning. Now I hear about how difficult it is to "scan everything". I haven't asked if there's a barcode on the bathroom wall for #1 or #2 but it wouldn't surprise me.
Rather than track down choke points in the mail flow, these managers saddle the entire system with a "guaranteed to fail" CYA bandaid.0 -
I'm retiring on September 28 as a USPS night shift electronics technician. Gruntled and Mobuck are absolutely correct here. After 16 years as an ET, with 4 years of active duty military time bought back, my retirement after paying my health insurance (for me only, my wife won't be covered) will be in the neighborhood of $800 a month. Before taxes. And keep in mind that as an electronics tech I was considered skilled labor at the post office, trained in Norman OK to work on virtually every piece of sorting equipment and network infrastructure in the sorting facility I worked in. We are a pretty small segment of the total USPS population (11 of us in a processing center of a couple hundred clerks, mail handlers and supervisors), probably a few thousand nationwide compared to the hundreds of thousands of employees overall. My base pay was more than that of small office postmasters, and still my retirement is what it is. If I hadn't maxed out my annual contribution to the Thrift Savings Plan that we have as a retirement plan (which USPS matches the first 5% of)I'd be working until I died in the plant. 0 -
Another package and after 5 days of Post office saying they are waiting on the package I contacted the company who sent it. Got this reply.

Hate to say it but I believe them. Would not be surprised that when I go to pick up the package I have waiting at the post office this one is not there also.0
