The Roman toga was like a knee length T-shirt with short sleeves. Worn by men and women it could be belted or left to hang loose.
The Greek garment that left one shoulder bare and hung to the floor was called the himation. No Greek togas.

I fondly remember when a "toga party" meant everyone showed up draped in a sheet but otherwise naked. And all knew in advance that the sheets would be dispensed with before long.
