Fired the M-9/Beretta 92 again...

Well, it's been a while since I last fired an M-9 (in my aircraft we bring rifles...not pistols).

I forgot how terrible a weapon the M-9 is egranomicly speaking. While I regularly connected with my target, the grip I find much to wide for my hand, the safety impossible to manipulate with my firing hand in a firm grip and its inability to carry in a true condition one.

Its plenty accurate, but I hate holding it.

I've nothing against the 9mm round....but back in the 80s I wish we had gone with the 226 or the Hi-Power instead.

    You "regularly connected" with the target. Sounds like a great combat weapon to me.

    I am just the oppsite.

    I like the M9 and I shoot it well. I find it easy to manipulate with practice.

    While I like the BHP and the SIG I find I shoot the M9 better than either.

    I shoot a BHP very good but they have their bugs too. No real trigger reset, the mag safety and occasional hammer bite.

    The SIG 226/228/M11 I have shot are OK SA/DA guns but they have a gritty trigger to me.


    If all the SA/DA guns out there I think I like the CZ 75 the best.

    Good shooting guns. Own a 96A1, carried a 96FS on the job for awhile. Not the best grip for my hand size but they always ran well and were accurate.

    I bet most on these forums could regularly connect with a hi-point as well but you dont see us all suggesting the military adopt it now do you.[;)]


    To each his own I suppose. I am glad I dont normally have to carry one.

    Not the point. The M9 IS a combat weapon. So it's good that even you could regularly connect with the target. That's all I'm saying.
    BTW, many would say we should have adopted the BHP.

    No matter what weapon the military had picked, someone would complain about it.

    I owned one once,,about the first week I took it to the range, about the 2nd week I sold it. Only way I would ever keep one id mill off that God awful front sight,,dovetail it and install a decent sight system

    Guess I'm lucky cause I've always been able to shoot most guns pretty well. I like the Beretta but the damn things seem to break more than any other rental guns we have ever had.

    They have dove tailed front sights these day, have for several years.

    I have always shot expert, but I hate the way it feels in my hand. Every time I think I need one in my collection for nostalgic reasons, I remember I hate the damn thing.

    Loved it from the 1st time I fired it. Fits my hands just right.

    You want to fire something you need large hands for try my Para Warthog. Makes the M9 seem small.
