We do not allow routine PDA while in uniform, however we highly encourage it when family members/loved ones return to home station after a deployment.0 -

Took a bit. PDA could be Electronic but did not fit into the Situation. PDA Public Display of Affection does. Never used the PDA term while I was in so it must be new Lingo.

Good God man, when did you serve?
Admittedly my time in service doesn?t predate wooden ships and iron men, but I was around long enough to claim to be a sailor. I served from 10 April 1961 until 1 July 1989. The United States Navy openly invited friends and family to meet returning ships at the pier before my time and they were doing it after I left. It was considered to be within the bounds of the Uniform Code of Military Justice to openly confess you loved your family and vice versa and publicly display same.0 -

Not sure what branch you served in, but I know on my ship every morning after muster I walk through my divisions berthing...if somebody's rack and locker is not squared away I give them a verbal counseling and they stay late until I or one of my designated senior enlisted say it's good to go. Do it again they get a written counseling chit in their jacket and EMI...keep trying to buck me or my chain and I send your to Mast.
Sure we get some bad apples, but we get them out as fast as we can. I would go into combat ops with my division anytime.
BTW...go to a pier when my guys are returning from a deployment nd tell them not to kiss their wives or stop their little girl from jumping into their arms and I'll bet you will find out just how soft they are...if there wives don't get to you first.
Guess what I'm trying to say is piss off.[;)]
Edit: and for the record, inappropriate PDA has always been punished. I don't kiss my wife if I am able to meet her for lunch on a week day...but that was not the situation in the pic/video.0 -
Well seems the Navy said it was OK and since I was in the Marines from 74 -94 and already said it was OK in this instance. Wonder what branch he was. 0
