How ca you control an automatic pistol from swinging left and down shooting right handed?

The left swing is from left twist rifling and you cannot control that. Down swing I cannot envision during recoil. The Colt 1911 always swung left and up for me. 0 -
From my experience. The weight of the bullet being fired, has the greatest effect. Even over the muzzle velocity.Try shooting the lightest available bullet, for a given caliber.
If you reload, it makes it a lot easier. Shooting my G 20 Glock. With my 135 grain reloads. Was a lot easier, than with 180 grainers.
Also, you might try a two handed hold. That helps alot, taming recoil and torque.0 -

Most right handed shooter 'recoil' up and to the right. (one handed)
It would seem that shooting a revolver would show the same recoil for the same shooter.0 -
Rifling twist and bullet weight at pistol ranges? Not much.
Most of the low left POI is from pushing into the (anticipated) recoil and yanking the trigger. Very difficult to get out of, especially with a Glock and its Tricky Trigger.
Lots of dryfire, maybe one of those laser gadgets He Dog shows, "swiss cheese" drills - calls for a helper who hands you the gun. There may be one in the chamber or there may not. A flinch becomes obvious very quickly.
Sometimes you can correct it by getting the right amount of finger on the trigger. If you are not flinching.0 -
I have shot Bullseye since 1964 95+% of low left shots by right hand shooters come from flinching the fact that one is flinching is hard for a shooter to see and 99% of people don"t want to admit they are doing it get a friend to load the magazine with some loaded rounds and some with just the empty case now you shoot the pistol when you pull the trigger on the empty case have both yourself and friend watching the front of the barrel you will see it jump next step with empty pistol lay a coin on the top of the slide .
when you can get the hammer to drop on an empty round with out the coin falling off of the slide you are on your way to shooting when you can
put the coin on edge on top of the slide. when you can DRY FIRE and coin stays put now you are shooting well0 -
I favor actual practice. It takes a lot of ammo for most people to get good with a handgun. Those that shoot well shoot often. It really helps to have a good shooting pistol to start with.
I tend to only shoot one load in a firearm once I find what it likes. I like full power loads. So get a gun that you can handle the recoil. I don't think you do yourself any favors by training all the time with 38 Special and then expect to do well with 357 in it once in a while.
It has been my experience that good quality fixed sight guns will shoot point of aim as I learn how to hold it, takes time and ammo. With adjustable sights I can dial it in very quickly.
You might ask someone that can shoot well with a handgun to observe you shooting and see if can offer you some tips.
Get a 3 to 5 pound barbell. Do curls and just hold your arm out in shooting position until you start shaking. Can be done while watching TV.0 -

I'm no expert but have had good luck with this.
First time shooters quickly develop a flinch. When it shows up, I have them dry fire a gun with a laser mounted on it. First dry fire the flinch is obvious when the laser moves, usually down to the left. When they can dry fire consistently without the laser moving, they return to live fire, usually the flinch is cured. It returns occasionally but they recognize it and fix it themselves. I'm describing first time shooters. They still have tons to learn, but it cures the initial flinch, at least for that day.0 -

The higher you can get the web of your index finger and thumb on the rear tang, the better you can control muzzle rise and faster recovery with follow up shots. 0 -
How the hell does a muzzle recoil down and to the left? You holding the gun upside down? 0 -

Nope, I meant 'up and to the right' which is one reason that right handed shooters can experience 'stove pipes' and 'lefties' rarely (if ever) do. (one handed)0 -

I just hold it "gangsta" style. For you I think lefthand with the ejection port facing the ground. Yeah you're pointing at 4 o'clock and the flinch will raise it up. Yeah that's right. 0 -

you need to remove the thingamajigger and get a replacement, or maybe the doohickey is out of calibration.
if you can't get parts or service for those, you just have to put it on semi-auto and aim it yourself.0 -
