    I could be wrong but " It was manufactured in 12/70, December 1970. " means it is a 12 ga. with 70mm (2 3/4") chambers. I'd do some more research about the mgf. date

    edit, the "558" might be the mgf. date (May, 1958)

    Mike is correct. 12 g 70mm shells. Beautiful shotgun- love the way all the screw slots are aligned on those guns.

    I looked at several posts on different forums and just about all of them had the month/year as the info for the date of manufacture when they saw markings like that......looking at the 1970s guns the engravings looked similar. Are you guys SURE that I have this wrong? I just want to be certain before I add something to that auction.

    Are those really only 18.5" barrels? They look longer than that.

    OMG.....that is crazy! What meds did I take last night.....is there video of this insanity? I swear....its like some kind of cruise control gets set somewhere around auction number 30 and its any many's game after that.

    I hope you know I'm not picking on you, just looking out for you with a little "constructive criticism"!
    I can't imagine all the descriptions and variables that goes into listing so many different items! You're bound to blow it occasionally!

    I didn't think you were being rough on me at all.....its nice to have someone point out a mistake so I can go in and fix things. I'm just amazed at how "off" some of my mistakes can be sometimes.

    Its like when you pull out the driveway and drive 5 minutes in the wrong direction because you typically go in that direction.

    I have no idea when the gun was made but those marking do mean 12ga/ 70mm chamber (2 3/4")
