Parts kit update

Had the tune up kit installed on my left knee this past Monday (10/1/18) I have to say this is not much fun.

I'm up on a walker and have had a couple of in home therapy sessions. My whole leg is swollen and tight, the swelling itself limits movement just because the swollen tissues are in the way.

But progress is happening and I'm sure all will be in shape in time. Then we do the other one in six months. Having one done doesn't make me look forward to having the other one done. But I do look forward to being done with both and being able to get around better.

The doctor said it was pretty bad, not the worse he's seen, but he's never seen one that bad that someone was actually still using like I did. I worked Saturday and Sunday before having surgery Monday. More on that in a minute. I just hope I can finish the next few months before having the other one done. The doctor told me he couldn't fathom how I had been getting along without narcotic medications, yet alone well enough to work. Oh well.

If you don't think anti-inflammatory medication is helping, just stop taking it. I stopped mine 10 days before surgery. WOW! My knees hurt before, I really hurt those last days at work. In fact I left 4 hours early on Sunday.

This is my favorite time of the year, and yes it sucks to be down like this. But I was down anyway as I couldn't do the things that makes this my favorite time of the year. I look forward to next fall.

Finishing up a book today that was recommended by someone on here, Optics For The Hunter. Interesting read.

That's enough rambling for now. I may ramble some more later. While I wasn't taking narcotics before surgery I am finding them quite helpful for the time being. I write down when and how much I take, I used less yesterday and most likely will use less than that today. Progress, it is being made.

    like to gettem fixed but i will NOT give up the warfarin which keeps me alive..asked the surgeon if he would GUARRANTEE no blood clot if i reduce meds for surgery ...he said NO..asked if i would get the bill if one happened...he said YES.... easy walking days are over

    How long have you had the knee replacement? Mine are going on 10 years and haven't heard anything about a "tune up".

    Had a problem with left knee but it was a "burr" on the tendon. Therapist worked on it (NOT FUN!!!) a couple of times and all was better.

    Hope you can recover fast and completely so that you can go on doing the things that you enjoy doing

    Hope you recover quickly. The first couple of weeks are pure h***, but then it starts getting better. My wife had her right knee replaced on May 7 and her left one replaced on Sept 7 of this year. I have not been through it myself, but in taking care of her I can appreciate where you are at this time.

    As for the anti inflammatory efficacy - it's amazing how much a prescription strength dosage of naproxin can help alleviate overall pain levels - or help boost the performance of pain relieving narcotics...

    Take my word for it - BTW it's the active ingredient in OTC aleve

    Also if you take some benadryl with your pain meds the active ingredient will not only help with reducing your pain - it will help you fall and stay asleep

    Ice it for a while and be at ease for a while. It does take some time...

    and acetaminophen is the only OTC pain med one can take without affecting the INR ratio.....and if ya take to much of that you melt your liver...local here took loads of that for pain and sheer dumb luck got him on top of donor list or he would have died several years ago

    Those lower parts kits are less expensive/painful than getting a full upper.

    It was a replacement. But it's like rebuilding anything else, just replace the parts that move against each other. I thought of it as having a rebuild kit installed, shouldn't have used tune up kit I guess.
