Those who carry on an empty chamber,,

I don't depend on anyone else to shoot except myself, so I don't give a damn how you carry. [;)] 0 -
I have never understood why people carry an automatic without one in the chamber. I've always carried my 1911's, Sigs, HK's etc ready to go, after becoming familiar with them many years ago. If you don't carry one in the chamber you should just leave your pistol at home for all the good it will do you if you ever really need it. Those who don't feel comfortable with one in the pipe in an automatic should be carrying revolvers instead. 0 -
I once observed a man put his TT33 in the trunk of his car locked and cocked. I pointed out to him that even with the safety on this was not a good mode to keep that model pistol.
He told me he assumed it was safe since that's the way many people carry a 1911.0 -

That guy is a jack ass.
How did the army instruct you to carry a 1911?
Anyone remember?
I do and I carried one in combat, in fact I did many airborne ops with one how was I instructed to carry it????????.0 -
Carrying chamber empty is a kin to thinking you can put on your seat belt just before the wreck. Good luck with that.[;)] 0 -

I'm fairly certain that the practice of 5 loaded, 1 empty is a throwback to the blackpowder days with fixed firing pins; completely anachronistic today.0 -
There are many variables involved in a decision. 0
