    I figured if Roy Clark could play Banjo with the same sausage fingers I have, I could do it too. I was wrong. Although Roy started @ 6 years of age. (I was much older)

    a lot of talent that never makes it to the " Big time" but just enjoy the ability and fun of playing

    my grandfather could play the banjo and my dad always told me stories of the family and friends in the "holler" getting together and drinking and playing
    he told me as a kid he tried several times just never could get it


    as for me I would like to play the banjo but sadly the best I can do is play the radio and pick my nose [:D][:D]

    I know this is a bit off topic but with Aretha having passed I went down a rabbit hole this week that started with her in the Blue's Brothers and which chased after the amazing players and legends who are in the film

    As I was born in 1971 I had the great luck (or great misfortune) to have both been a child of the 70's and of the 80's - that I bridged that gap at just the right moment to catch both eras

    As a kid growing up this clip referenced above blew the top of my head off and I feel allowed some of the mush to poor out and for blues culture to infiltrate into my brain

    The whole movie was to me a white hot bright blinking signpost arrow directing me to the music of all the Hero's in this movie

    Heavy metal the movie had a similar effect

    Steve Martin can play the banjo - if you have not listened you have missed out

    Even the very best banjo players have taken a back seat in the music industry since the end of the 19th century.

    There was a bit of an upswing with banjo's with the movie "Deliverance", but that has always been used as a corn hole kind of game![:0]

    Another very well known actor, George Segal is also very talented with the banjo!

    That kid in the 1st video I like the way he plays could just sit and listen to him. I tried to find others but it just was not the same.

    My Mom made me watch Larence Welk Before I could watch He Haw. It was the Grand Ole Oprey I was watching.

    I look up stringbean on the internet a few years back too see what happened to him , I did not know he was murdered
    its a sad story for such a humble fellow
