    Have to toss the BS flag on this one. Standard dynamites do not detonate from burning- they detonate from percussion. The standard means of disposing of old dynamite is to burn it.

    When you see Clint Eastwood light the fuse with his cigar, and toss the stick of powder- the fuse burns down to an inserted blasting cap, making THAT explode.


    If you have someone storing capped sticks of powder WITH A FUSE IN PLACE- that is also called bomb making. Something just ain't right with these folks.

    Apparently that stick had a blast cap at the end of its candle wick (fuse)

    Okay, this article is more thorough. It explains that they moved in the House 2 years ago and the dynamite was left in the basement by the previous owners. And she thought that they were candles...

    They used to call that M-80s around here. A full stick would have done a whole lot more damage than that!

    I assumed and M-80 when I heard this on the radio Friday. A full stick of dynamite would have killed her. Also found it interesting that the snowflake BDU evacuated adjacent houses when a second firecracker was found in the house.
