    The cities have indoctrinated school age children for 60 years. The rural areas not so much.

    Have had a few conversations about Social Security. Students are told it is a form Social_ism and it would be even better if the U.S. had more social programs. Like magic the idea that Social_ism is great is planted into their brains.

    Communism can't be far behind.

    50 years ago I would have laughed at a person if they said that United States will become a communist country.... I hate saying it, but I have my doubts now[V][V][V]

    But I will say I will live free, or die trying... I just hope it doesn't come to that

    Two answers, The school system and Pot. Most pot heads are Democrats. Oregon legalized pot and the free loaders and the pot heads just voted in a super majority in both state houses and a Democrat Governor. Although we have the 3 worst education system in the USA. Oregon is over 22 billion in the hole to the public employees. That is a vote buying system. The Oregon Government is now big enough to vote itself in office and getting bigger every year. There is a new Oregon jobs program. The jobs will be for people answering the phone to tell others how to get free healthcare. Basically tha tis handing pout money. I pay for mine.

    Was it not Nikita that said we would never accept Communism so just feed us Communism (dam sensor, you know what word belongs here) one piece at a time? "We will bury your grandchildren"

    Always enjoyed the irony of Khrushchev stating that the capitalists will sell us the rope by which we hang them.

    (At the same time the CIA, shell companies) was buying titanium from the Soviets for the construction of SR-71 Blackbird.

    The current wave of hard-left social ism is not, IMO, an outgrowth of Soviet influence.

    It has two origins.

    1. Some truly believe that the human condition is better served with equality of outcome over equality of opportunity. These folks are political emojies, operating from an uniformed and historically ignorant view of human nature and nature in general.

    2. Some simply want to gain power by offering to listless voters that which they have not the motivation to go get for themselves.

    Oddly, those in the first camp are the most dangerous. As best state by C.S. Lewis:

    ?Of all the tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under the omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.?

    Many in the progressive left would be this benevolent tyrants.

    Many in the gun control movement are these would be benevolent tyrants.

    They are a danger and a force which cannot be dismissed, and they are why, as an example, an uncompromising, Constitutionally based opposition to the rampant 2nd, and 4th Amendment infringements we see today is necessary.
