Gunsmith screwdrivers, what do you use ?
Whats a good brand,dont need a big set just something to do the common stuff ? I have a 8 piece set of Pachmayr and have broke most of them now,they are real crap !

Brownell's has a couple of "gunsmith screwdriver" sets with interchangeable tips; it will last a lifetime.
But, if you only need 10-12 tips, Grace makes wood handle sets + individual screwdrivers that are great quality, & strong enough for those of us with gorilla strength.

i have a set from "B Square" that i have used for years. they work well and weren't that expensive as i recall. 0 -
Brownells (3 sets) and a set of fine brass screwdrivers and punches and feeler gauges that came off of a Perry class frigate...

My experience, as small as it is, has shown that large flat replaceable bits ground, filed and stoned into the exact size needed works best. I think the 5/15" flat bit works for most applications needing refinement. The metric using countries make slot sizes all over the map. The Wheeler bits supplied with the in/pd torque wrench leave a lot to be desired, so I make my own. Yes, it is a major PIA but worth the effort. 0 -
Forster and some Brownell's. I do not like the replaceable tip screwdrivers. I don't like the way they move. 0 -

Brownell's large set. Nononsense would be the best source for screwdriver recommendations, he is pretty picky and uses top of the line stuff. Does not consider Brownell's the best.
I have a bunch of S&W 'sight adjustment tools' stashed around for grip screws.0 -
I got magnetic tip Wheeler 90 piece? Few others I picked out of the clearance bin from auto store or Ace. I got this one "T" handled ratchet I like. If the Wheeler had the ratcheting action I might like them more. 0 -

The slots in gun screws are cut differently than the wedge shape of other screws. 0 -

I have always gotten by well with the Brownell's set. At one time they would replace broken tips for free. Not sure they still do as I haven't been in the trade for awhile so haven't broken any out of my set for a long time. It is nice to have the interchangeable tips and keep some common size extra's for a custom grind fit without have to replace the whole driver. 0 -
So far I've had plenty of good luck with my Wheeler set. The in-laws bought it for me as a Christmas/Birthday present the 1st full year I had been dating the their daughter. I have a few pieces that I have about wore out and 1 that I somehow "misplaced."
