California shooting suspect was a decorated Marine

"He was somewhat irate, acting a little irrationally," Dean said. The police called in a team of mental health specialists who decided that Long did not qualify to be involuntarily detained for mental health evaluation under state law.
A neighbor, who would only identify himself by his last name, Hanson, said Long lived with his mother.
"I mind my own business and they did theirs too," he said in a brief telephone interview. A woman in the background added: "He was kind of a loner."
Other neighbors said they did not recognize the suspect's name, adding that his mother would wave as she drove by as they watered their lawn.
An American flag hung on the garage at Long's home on Thursday as law enforcement gathered outside. A red pickup truck was parked in the driveway.
According to public records, Long appeared to be the grandson of H. Daryl Foley, a former U.S. Navy commander who spent 30 years in the service and died in 2010, according to a published obituary.
Long's mother, Colleen Long, has worked for more than eight years as an analyst for Dole Food Co, according to her social media profiles.

I wpuld like to believe the conspiracy nuts that this guy was ?rupied? and given instructions, but I know better.
Something has gone wrong with our military members, we are losing a lot to suicides, sadly this Marine decided to take some with him.
I don?t know whether to be angry at him, angry at the system that failed him or both.0 -
If he had been a "good" Marine wouldn't he have typically risen higher than Corporal in five years of service? And in five years of active duty he only deployed once? My co-worker was in the Marines for 6 years and deployed to combat several times, including being in the second battle of Fallujah. 0 -

not necessarily, especially in the infantry. It's very common for Marines to EAS @ 4 years as a LCpl (E-3) so not making sergeant in 5 is nothing to be ashamed of. "Terminal Lance."0 -
General Robert Neller, USMC Commandant, referred to him as an "Ex-Marine". Marines don't intentionally kill innocent civilians. He dishonored the Corps and doesn't deserve the title of "Former Marine". [:(!]

What has gone wrong with our military is that for the 8 years Obama was our CIC he had no back bone and we were a social experiment to him. Let's try this, let's try that, tell them we will cut off their ding dongs or that we will take hundreds of years of tradition that has made them proud and throw it out the window.
Oh and we want to train them to run, hide, and fight in that order in an active shooter situation....yeah right....then send them to fight wars with extra restrictions cause its technically not a war...and then while the field commanders will at least have tangible short term goals our politicians have no real definable long term goals....defeat terrorism they say....then we will have won...oh and we will strip this country further of it's moral compass insisting we give ours to other countries.

I have seen one comment that on social media he has converted to Islam and his new name was Abu Al-Hom. It was stated this is being suppressed by the media.
I am posting this not because I believe its true but because I am on no social media and I hope someone can find out if this is true or (as I suspect) BS0
