Does Anyone Else Do This

Every winter when my dad got done using his yard tools he would clean them up and paint the metal parts.

Now im doing it. LOL

    Don't paint them, but do give everything a good "raggin" with linseed oil, both wood and metal. Does that count? ;-)

    Most people don't. They just buy new ones next year.Yes and this helps the economy in many ways, manufacturing and retail sales plus YouTube videos finding, fixing and selling tools people gave them or they pickup for almost nothing at garage sales.

    Not to mention the many videos on "Dumpster Diving" and picking trash on the the curb, staying one step ahead of the regular trash truck.

    Yep, they're always stored inside when not in use, but no paint, or oil.

    My Grandfather used to have a 5 gallon bucket of sand saturated with used motor oil. He had a huge garden, and used a lot of garden tools. In the fall I would help him clean up the tools by scraping off the mud. Then he would dip the tool up and down in the sand until they came out all cleaned up and with a thin coat of oil on them.

    Some of those tools were over a hundred years old when I was just a little kid. Must have worked very well for him.

    I have many "tools" from my Dad. Probably 50 years old at least. Very well built and almost good as new. Never did anything with them.
