Basic active shooter courses train to run, hide, fight. I do not know if active shooter response is taught in schools, but it should be. In Florida, and in other school shootings, the students got the run and hide part, but ignored the fight part. In Florida there were many hundreds of students right in the area where the lone shooter was killing people. Many of them were student athletes and capable of taking physical action. Students need to be taught to not just run and hide, but for someone to yell "let's roll", and attack the shooter. There would risk of course, but the shooter would be overcome in seconds, rather than having minutes to kill people.

    Never been a school shooting in Idaho, Teachers there are armed if so desired. They don't even need a permit. Go figure Oregon next door had the deadliest shooting of all the states. Schools are gun free zones. You would think they might get the hint. WRONG

    Not all are gun free here in Oregon. Ans its one right in Eugene. Lane Community College.

    The school shooting problem is two-fold.

    1) Gun free/Target rich environment

    2) Schools are liberal strongholds, so the people who we are seeking to arm are also the ones most likely to oppose firearms in schools.

    I've had this discussion with teachers. They all say the same thing: They don't want to be cops, they don't know how the schools are going to afford to pay to issue them a sidearm, and they dont know how the school is going to afford to pay to train them.

    When I tell them I have carried a gun for years, I have no desire to be a cop, no one bought my gun for me, and I train on my own dime...because I enjoy it......its like it doesn't compute for them.
