accidental discharge

Just saw on the news tonite, in our little town,Sonora a correctional officer(sargent)was adjusting his CCW holster while sitting in the theater and it went off. Went through seat and into floor. One fellow claimed to have been hit by shrapenel. Bet it was a glock

    Good reason to make sure your firearm is securly holstered--He was hit in the leg and this guy may be charged with reckless endangerment as well by the DA. I would bet the guy just had it tucked into his jacket or pants pocket and it fell out--also a reason not to just tuck your gun into your waistband like some tv gumshoe[;)]. http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattle911/archives/186225.asp

    Our AF has done worse.

    Tyndall AFB has yet to account for 22 planes which may or may not have been damaged by Michael.

    Does our AF have any underground hangers?

    A bunch of AF planes were flown up to Wright Patterson prior to the storm.

    Not to worry, the Air Force has specific plans to move the aircraft when threatened by natural disasters or war attacks.

    Accidental discharges are just a myth. I have never heard of a firearm actually discharging accidentally. It's all been done through operator error...

    We had the same thing happen to us one time. We were lucky the plane was facing the desert. However the person who pulled the trigger was not happy. The trigger guy lost a pay grade and the guy on the ground beside the gun lost some hearing.[:(]

    Have had one of what I consider accidental discharge. Remington 660, fired when safety was released. There was a recall on the trigger- that one went back to Remington, repaired at their expense.

    Had a friend darned near killed by a negligent. He was working on the tail rotor of an armed Huey. Other party checking circuits, shorted out firing leads, fired a 2.75 inch rocket. Jerry was standing in the backblast area of the rocket. Shredded his left side and leg, threw him about 20 ft.

    As a boy hunting with my dad without a gun One of the guys in the club was loaning me his rifle for the deer drive. As he was showing m how to use it. He accidently pulled the trigger and boom!
    Ever see 11 guys jump simultaneously. Lukily no one was hurt except the feelings of the dude giving the alleged safety lesson.

    Tyndall AFB has multiple airframes and the majority were dispersed to Wright Patterson (OH) and to Ft Worth Alliance field (TX). They did have some RQ16s and a couple of F22s that were undergoing Phase Maintenance and could not be made airworthy prior to the storm making landfall.

    You have to tie them down as best as you can and get them into hangers to protect as much as possible. However this was a no win situation as the eye passed directly over Tyndall. There is a possibility that after measurements are completed that Michael could be reclassified as a Cat 5 storm.

    Tyndall has been devastated. I have a couple of my old Airmen stationed there now and I checked on them earlier in the week. They and their families are ok and had relocated up to Eglin AFB as it was not in the impact cone.

    Hurlburt Field and Eglin AFB (along with many others as well as the Army and Navy) are delivering field COMM equipment, power generation and bringing in AF Red Horse teams and heavy equipment to start the cleanup of the base along with the local community.

    As accidents always do that still comes back to negligence. In this case it was Remington?s negligence and not yours, but still negligence. I call negligence premeditated carelessness.

    I?ve had people get angry with me for saying that and ask me if I believed it how do I explain any auto insurance claims I?ve ever had. It?s simple; I?m not immune to negligence any more than most people, but it?s never excusable, even when it?s me.
