Church?s Fried Chicken

About 3:30 I was on my way back to the shop after picking up a 5 gal bucket of solvent cause I have about 50 very dirty guns to clean and realized I was hungry and hadn?t had lunch. Church?s was on my left so I pulled into the drive through. I haven?t eaten there in years but I asked for a dark meat combo with fried okra and green beans and it was really good. Much better than KFC.

    Yeah...there meat tends to be even darker than popeyes....much darker than kfc.

    All I have in this area is KFC. Do Have a Popeye's 60 miles north.

    Have some local places that do Broasted chicken that is not bad.

    We built a regional office and warehouse just outside of Chicago for Church's MANY years ago. They were jus getting into the area market at the time and did pretty well!

    Forgot we had one when I was at Camp Pendelton fried checken that was the place to go.

    But these guys have been heading north would love to have a store nearby.

    Before I retired I lost weight eating there cause its a lot less fattening.

    I have driven quite a few miles for Church's chicken. Great Yard Bird, and the Fried Okra....... Just the best. But you have to eat the okra fresh, or it gets chewy. I usually eat mine on the drive home.....

    When I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, we'd get lunch at El Pollo Loco at least twice a week.

    Used to like El Pollo Loco, but not so fond of the deep fried pressure cooked stuff.

    Years ago I used to drive apx. 25 miles just for Churches Chicken !!!!

    They had fried chicken livers & big japaleno peppers ! YUM !

    Always really liked it : Wish there was one here close by ???

    Fried Chicken from Popeye's is usually very greasy and overly spiced...

    KFC has gone down hill for years, last time I had KFC it was dry and tasted like it was a few days old...won't go back.

    Church's Fried Chicken here is usually very good...go there often.

    For sit down fast rotisserie Chicken dinner, with all the trimmings, I usually go to Boston Market.

    We now have Chicken Express. Chicken sucks, but the gizzards and gravy sure hit the spot.

    I remember there was rumer that the KKK owned Churches and put something in the chicken to make bl*cks impotent.

    This was in the 70's and 80's.

    Back in the early sixties Kentucky Fried was the best for a us youngsters. Order up a Bucket of chicken, a Bucket, eat outside then ride in the back window of a 60 Ford Starliner as dad was drinking Lightning on the way Home.

    Family Size Okra even though it's off the menu now. They will make it for a dollar more. "Spicy" legs and thighs 9 or 10 piece on special. Since the employees are all Mexicans it's really spicy. Not too long ago (couple years back) I found that on their web site they have coupons. I still miss the fried chicken livers.

    I remember reading somewhere one time Popeye's and Church's were owned under one umbrella. Then owned by a muzzy corp. that changed the menu for something muzzy friendly. I wondered if they bought or built East facing slaughtering line to be Halal?
