    The original military moderators did minimally effect decibel level...these hollow faux moderators do not have any baffles so it's loud like any short barrel.

    The one I pictured is a Troy GAU 5/A/A clone with a 12.25" barrel and 4.5" moderator...4.5" was the original mod length

    I also had a XM177E2 clone that had a 10.5" barrel and 5.5" moderator....

    Seems to me, if you really want a suppressed AR, the best route is to get one in 9mm. Subsonic 9mm ammo is not difficult to get, & the rifle will function reliably.

    You can bet that if it reduced it by one decibel there would be a $200 tax stamp and banned on the west coast.

    ATF probably had to test it every year when the Demoncats reigned.

    I thought the people who are making those "Blast Shields" ripped it off from this. Figure 3+" of the tube is just that a tube to force the blast forward.
