There is quite a lot of truth to this. We are deep, deep in the third phase. The last three(at least) generations have not been collectively challenged with widespread hardships like world war, famine, natural catastrophe, disease, etc. Those who have never seen hardship tend not to appreciate the hardships of those who went before. Therefore we see what we have today. People who are offended by, well, everything, who feel entitled and scoff at the world that the older generations have built for them.

This subject came up at my shop today. Bob (who has been a mentor to me since I was a teen and is almost ninety) was talking about the rationing going on during WW2. He mentioned shops that would cut tread on bald tires because new tires were not available.(Exceptions were made for farmers since the troops needed to eat.) I can't even imagine times being that tough.
Today, half of all food is thrown out and we have a generation that can't decide what gender they are.0 -
I don't know. It seems the US military has some utterly amazing, brave and selfless fighters today; just as they did in the past. Things are so different from one generation to the next it is hard to measure with an accurate equal yard stick.
The challenges are still there completely different from the past but still monumental in this time period. The greatest hurdles facing a man today is the Federal Governments intrusion into everything from abortion to who one can love and marry. Taxes, The IRS, FBI, Homeland Security, TSA EPA, codes, regulations, bureaucrats with zero accountability, schools out of control, inability to punish kids, you name it The Feds have their nose in it.
There are many millions of fine responsible men in this nation many are older many are younger. They all face adversity with quiet resolve and do the best they can for them and theirs. They quietly accept the hard times, the challenges and lead on.0 -
I would like to see some of these wimp boys today try and bale hay or do a hard days work. They would rather play with their phones 0 -

I remember when I was younger there were a lot of "little old ladies" -- literally. They were all about 5' or so when their children were much taller.
Due to their age I always assumed they were young and didn't get enough food during the depression.0 -
