Therapists and rifles
The physical therapist that's been coming to the house to help beef up this knee noticed some hunting/shooting stuff here at the house. He told me he had just bought a Ruger 77 in 30-06 and an 870 express 12 ga. Said he got them from a friend who had lost a relative and inherited several firearms.
So this therapist is wanting to start hunting and is setting up his rifle. He has bought a Vortex 4x12x44, I don't know what model. He had buggered up a ring screw and asked if I had advice on how to get it out. I told him a couple of ways that might work. Told him to bring the screw as I may have what he needs.
He brought the scope ring today and I fixed him up there. I gave him a box of 180gr Cor-lokt bonded ammo I had here at the house. Then I loaned him a lapping kit and a wheeler fat wrench to help him mount the scope. Told him to watch a couple of youtube videos and explained a few things he needed to know.
I like helping folks get started and this kid is eager to soak up what ever will help him. He's doing a good job with my therapy and being able to teach him a few things makes it fun for me. I showed him a climbing stand and told him if he came out on his own time he could hook it up and see how they work. By the next visit he had already traded for one, some model Summit that had only been used about 5 times, he was excited about it. He promised he had also got a good harness. He's getting his hunter ed card and hoping to be hunting this fall.
Like I said, it's fun to help people get started.
