where i am in this glacial valley, is on the outskirts of the major soil deposits left after the big glacier melted. not that much topsoil to grown good corn crops..most ground is pasture for cattle. yes the moms are skinny. they are weaning the littles ones right now. they will start adding weight shortly...i tend to think the mom's are teaching the fawns the various food sources available not just mothers milk. 0 -
