but really, if you can be objective I ask;
the wall - will it stop drugs and illegals? NO
will it stop a % of that? if you can be objectively honest then the answer is yes.
so then you need to assign a % to that and here's where almost everybody goes off the rails with 0001% if you are a hard line lib to 99% if you are a hard line conservative.
bottom line is that the wall WILL pay for itself (eventually) no matter what % you do assign that figure to be. so I guess you can stretch that into the illegal element of Mexico paying for the wall.
it's like when I talk to a lib about global warming. we MAY just be in a warming CYCLE for the planet and man MAY be contributing to that. libs say man is 100% responsible which is scientifically IMPOSSIBLE, so since they can NOT be objective then there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to continue that conversation. the right says it's 0%, which again, is scientifically impossible. if you eat a plate of beans you WILL contribute to global warming. ? eventually[:o)][;)]

My Army training made it clear that if you made an "obstacle" (mine field, anti-tank ditch, etc) and didn't have a way to watch it and engage the enemy when they found it you were wasting your time.
I've looked for anyone discussing the cost of keeping the wall up after it's built but haven't seen any information.
There are news stories about how a "common industrial tool" can cut the steel slats easily so they should have followed up with questions about how many people it would take to keep the wall up.
I did some math once and came up with a guesstimate of how many people it would take and it was significant but who want's to mess with real facts these days when we can have more fun fighting over symbols.[:(!]0 -

There are other funding requests for border security financing that would include additional law enforcement of 2000 and another 500 Border patrol. Also high tech equipment like drones and night vision as well as additional sensing equipment.

President Trump is done playing around when it comes to border security.
He has the government shut down to give him leverage in negotiations to finally fix the border crisis.
Trump is simply trying to get $5.7 billion in funding to build a wall on the border.
That shouldn?t be an issue, considering that illegal immigration already costs U.S. taxpayers upwards of $200 billion a year.
A wall will set up a solid barrier between Mexico and the United States, which will make entry much more difficult.
Other countries have walls, including Israel, and they are proven to work.
In the case of Israel, they have a much more direct threat on the other side of their borders.

I posted about a week ago, about emptying Fort Campbell and
sending the troops south. Even listed most of the units to send there.
Tenn/Kentucky doesn't need them. The southern border does!!0 -
