Another oil thread..........
The Mobil 1 oil on the left is $29.95 and the Super Tech on the right is $15.95. I like to use good oil, but from reading on the back is the Mobil 1 almost twice as good? If the Mobil 1 was $5 more that is 4-sure what I would get. I know the Super Tech is not Nascar endorsed...

Yes, oil ratings that meet or exceed your requirements are basically the same. As a matter of fact the oil not Labeled MOBIL 1 may in fact be MOBIL 1 in a different container. Filtering and the additive consumption of your engine is what determines engine oil life not mileage.
At 513,000 miles I expect heat cycles to impact my Cummins 5.9 diesel before oil related issues crop up, if ever. One oil change went 80,000 miles with the report saying it is fine changing not needed, I did it anyway. I run a FS 2500 bypass filter to get contaminates down to 2 microns out of the oil. Particulate matter FIRST then acid contamination concerns are secondary if it is ran often enough to burn them off.
That is why airplanes ran often can see over 4,000 hours with no issues when the factory TBO (Time Between Overhauls) is only 1800 to 2000 hours. Get the contaminates out by running it, your engine will live longer. Oil brand choice is not a determining factor for life expectancy of engines.0 -

it is good oil, but Yes.
If it makes you feel better, but the Mobil the first time and keep the empty jug.
Buy the Super tech the 2nd time. Pour the Super tech into the Mobile Jug. Throw away the Super tech jug. Repeat as needed.
There is about a 99.999% chance that your engine would never know the difference. Your wallet will.
Oh, and this does assume that you are not a NASCAR driver.......0 -
back a million years ago when i started working at the service station one could always tell the mobil oil users when you dropped the plug ...several were so gunky i ran a gallon of solvent thru...have no idea what it is like now.....and we even sold Kan-O-Gold 30w non detergent oil for 30cts a quart..Pennzoil was generally reguarded the best back then 0 -

Found this from another thread........as it looks like Super tech is a Pennzoil-Quaker State products as SF said... How can they sell it so much cheaper as I know they are making money on the oil?
I emailed Pennzoil-Quaker State and asked them if they made Wal-Mart SuperTech motor oil and this is what they said:
"Thank you for your interest in our Pennzoil-Quaker State products. We provide a service for Wal Mart by bottling oil for them. This is the Wal Mart brand Super Tech oil. For this service Wal Mart pays us a fee. We blend the oil to the specifications that Wal Mart provides us with and we in turn guarantee that the oil we bottle for Wal Mart will meet these specifications. We use the base stock oils that we have at our blending facilities to accomplish this task. We also use our additives necessary to meet the specifications set for us by Wal Mart.

So I guess that pretty much means that there is Quaker State in the SuperTech bottle. Any comments?
The part above that troubles me is blended to Walmart spec. I still have my receipt and thinking about taking the tech oil back as Walmart when it comes to a dollar will cheat you.0 -

I would have/have no issues using any fresh/clean oil in a daily driver.
In a TOW rig or my track car, it's a quality brand name.
A good filter is just as, if not more important.0 -
ive used super tech full synthetic in everything ive owned with a motor in it for the at least the last ten years. three farm tractors, lawnmowers, tillers, log splitters, generators and multiple cars and trucks. i have never had an oil related failure, my 2000 s-10 4.3 is nearing 300,000 miles. i use preminum filters and change oil at 7500 in the cars and trucks. just my experience with it. i have a good friend with a garage and wrecker service that wont use it because it comes from wal-mart yet he uses Advance auto and O'riellys house brand oil, go figure. 0 -

Warren Distribution made a lot of the supertech oil in the past, maybe they switched suppliers.
I know the white supertech oil filters were Wix. However they recently turned blue and appear to be AC Delco, or STP.
The supertech 3614 oil filter fits Kohler courage, and command small engines. Probably others.0
