  Luger, Ortgies, Mauser WTP, Mauser 1910 & 1914, Type 14 Nambu, Sauer 1913, Langenhahn, Walther model 7, Walther model 4, Galesi, MAC 10 Open bolt, are some of the strikers I have.
  
  It's not a mystery, a firing pin under spring pressure is held by a sear.
  Some setups are safer than others. The benefits of a striker system is simpler and can be contained in a smaller package. The drawbacks are bad metallurgy could fail causing an unplanned discharge.
