  The Morgans and Peace dollars are 90% silver. A Morgan weighs 26.73 grams. 90% of that is 24.057 grams. Almost any Morgan is worth more than its melt value (weight of silver).
  
  
  If you are looking at "ounces"- there is a difference between an ounce and a troy ounce. All precious metals are weighed as troy ounces.

  Unless I'm mistaken, a dollar face value of pre 1965 dimes, quarters or halves contains .71 ounce of silver. A silver dollar contains .76 ounce of silver.
