just back from breakfast...........
had an older fellow sitting at table beside me I had seen around town a time or two. he was at church yesterday and they had asked the veterans to stand, he remembered me standing and we got to talking about the service. he was surprised I was a marine, he grinned and said he had never met to many nice marines I laughed and said that why they call us the few.
turns out he was in WWII on a minesweeper I think he said the USS whiperwill and for the most part he was in the phillipenes for quite some time, he said they came under attack 5 different times, we BS'd for quite some time over a few cups of coffee then he went to bathroom I caught the waitress and offered to pay for his coffee as breakfast was free, she said his and mine had been taken care of by a lady and two kids who were sitting behind us.
she couldn't have been 20, with two small kids, didn't pay a lot of attention to her as we were talking most of the time. just proves there are still a few good kids in this younger generation.
