Personally, not worried about prices of gas. My 90cc ATV costs me an average of $1.00 per week. If gas prices go up 50% I'll spend $1.50 per week. Taxi is $1.00 anywhere in town but rarely use a taxi because walking is free. Bigger cities $1.50 but there are zones that go higher.
Gas prices get bad in U.S. when I return for vacation? [:D] Who cares, can ride the bus 24/7 for FREE including Heating and A/C.
Did notice yesterday gas was right at $3.00 USD per gallon. Where I am they are #18 on the list of EXPORTERS. The UNITED STATES is BOTTOM OF THE LIST, DEAD LAST with a Minus export ie: -7023000 Barrels. in 2016 (under Obummer), hope it's better in 2017/18.

Being in California it's always hovering close to $5.00. Okay not $5.00 but with all the special "California" taxes it's always near $4.00 [xx(][xx(][xx(].
You'd think with all the greenies and their electric cars that gas would be $2.00 a gallon here in California. Maybe with the $5.00 a gallon the ride share crap will go away.0 -

i remember when light sweet crude was $8 a bbl, during the carter years... i got 4 straight royalty checks of $0.04 to $0.06 cents.. this was quarterly.. i remember gasoline at $0.179/gallon[1969-1970]0 -

You should care because diesel will go up as well. Trust me, transportation costs are high now and they will go even higher. I see rates often at $3.00 or more, that means fresh apples from Washington to FL pays $9000 to the truck, I?ll be loading french fries tonite going to Denver that is paying $3000 from Idaho. I just got $5000 to bring fresh chicken out here from NC and that was cheap.
What does this mean for those of you who do not care about the price of oil? Well when a gallon of milk costs $8.00 you?ll know why. Those transportation costs are passed on to you, the consumer/end user.

Plus Low sulfur diesel may be used for all cargo ships by 2020 making it even more Scarce to find and buy. Many here cannot see the big picture and are myopic.

When the oil boom hit and fracking became the talk of the town the plan was to fight OPEC and lower prices. But as you can see fracking had done nothing but make some folks rich.
Also we have limited refineries, we need to build a few more0 -
Diesel went up because of the FEDERAL mandate to meet their LOW SULFUR emissions somewhere around the early 2000'0.
This caused the producers to engineer/design/construct desulfurization plants all over the U.S.
These plants plus more are still operating today. Worked on one of these "add on" plants in the caribbean that was selling Diesel to the U.S. in 2002. The U.S. has been tightening the sulfur regulation ever since, which sometimes requires "modernization" of existing plants.
California, same with gasoline. Special formulations, costs more money, but bigger problem is where to refine, transport and keep separated the gasoline seperated for the gasoline used everywhere else in the U.S. EXCEPT California.
Made a lot of money over the years working on FEDERAL Mandates. The earliest (for me) was the conversion of leaded gas to unleaded. Huge projects in the early 70's. Some were entirely NEW facilities.
So it should be no surprise these items cost more. Remember, your favorite unelected regulator mandated how the cow was to eat the cabbage.[:D]0 -

now that i am not in a tractor 14-16 hours a day...and other machinery i do drive around for fun with my 4 feet buddy more...like to find a small 4wd pickup that would get around 30mpg....seems they are all getting bigger now 0 -

During industry days at the 2017 North American International Auto Show, CEO David Johnson announced that by 2018 Achates would produce a drivable prototype truck powered by a 2.7-liter 270-hp, 479-lb-ft supercharged turbodiesel OP-3 engine capable of complying with Tier 3, LEV III, Euro 6 emissions while exceeding 2025 CAFE standards (its projected EPA label values will be 25/32/28 mpg city/highway/combined, yielding a 37-mpg unadjusted CAFE figure when 33 is the requirement for trucks with a footprint of 65-70 square-feet). Johnson further claimed that it would be 30 percent more efficient than the best diesel engines of comparable output, and 50 percent thriftier than the best similar gas engines.
