Looking at New Trucks
Leaning toward a F-250 6.2 Gasser 4x4. Anyone have one..pros and cons?

They've got some deals up here on 6.4 gasser RAM 2018 2500s...I only know this cuz I stopped and was looking at them...miss having a 2500 and don't really want a diesel. Shelor.com

I have a 2018 F250 6.2 gas work truck with plow 9.8 MPG. Test drive one the ride is pure work truck but not lacking in horse power. 0 -
I was shopping for new trucks as well just a few months ago. I looked at the F250. I ended up getting a 2018 Silverado 2500HD 4X4. No regrets. 6.0 liter with 6 speed transmission and 14,000 plus towing capacity. this truck is a beast. I really liked the Ford, but after talking to several Ford F250 owners about problems they had with theirs, I went with the Chevy. Plus, I got this truck for thousands cheaper than the comparable Ford. I was also concerned about the all aluminum bed and body on the Ford. Best of luck with whatever you choose. On a positive note, the 6.2 liter Ford engine is a great motor. All of the problems I heard from friends that owned them were electrical and transmission related. Don 0 -

Just as a side note, in the commercial where they dropped a toolbox into the Aluminum bed of the Ford and it ripped a hole in it, It did the same with the Chevy!

I have a friend that just bought one. He really likes everything about it, except the 12 mpg. It does have a mean exhaust note, unlike my F150 with the twin turbo V6.
But then I average 21.4 mpg with mine. [:)]0 -

Do you have 2.7 or 3.5? Cuz I don't see that kind of mileage with my 3.5....then again the only time I pay attention is on the highway, cruise set at 78. [;)]0 -

I also am looking at F250 gas motor. I want two doors only, maybe an extended cab but no 4 door. Have to get an 8' box also.
I cannot justify a diesel. Added cost at purchase and higher priced fuel just don't pencil out to a savings no matter how I figure it.
I read about some test drives of the F150 diesel that seem interesting. Supposed to have incredible fuel mileage.0 -
A lot of the folks around here are foregoing the diesel in favor of the V-10?s for towing.
Remember when the F-250 was available with the 300 cid 6 cylinder?0 -

The 300 straight 6 was a good motor. Was a good tower.

Nice looking truck and they're built good.
I bought my Silverado in 2003, almost 16 years ago, and it looks and drives as good today as it did when it was new.0 -

A lot of power but not much speed in that hunk of junk of yours. If I ever see you on the highway I'll blow your ass away with my little small block Chevy Silverado. Mine is the 2.7, 325 HP. When you kick it in the pants, you better hang on. I think it gets to 60 quicker than any other vehicle I've ever had. Even my 67 Caprice with the 385 HP 427. And I still haven't put the pedal to the floor yet. [:D][:0]

That 6.2 has the best reviews of all larger engines out there for longevity and Power. Ford Transmissions are rated better than anybody else's
You can't go wrong with a Ford, Chevrolet's are okay, but but according to their reviews they're not as good as a Ford. the Dodges are rated the worst0 -
There is a reason that truck has been the #1 seller for 30+ years and no sign letting up. Why not get the best as proof is in the pudding. 0 -
I need a truck to replace my 2006 Dodge Cummins dually. It has recently been painted from the poor paint job Dodge uses on their trucks. That is a good reason not to go back to Dodge or RAM now since they have changed owners. I drove a new one and hate the knob to change gears. Told the sales man there is no way I would buy one. Don't need to sell the Dodge I have but I wanna buy a new or like new truck.
Chevrolet... have owned before. They are overpriced and over rated. 4x4 system is a joke. Right rear and left front is what turns when 4x4 is engaged. The other 2 wheels might engage but don't count on it. Been stuck with their setup more than once where a Dodge or Ford wouldn't be. I pulled many of Chevys out of mud while hunting.
Toyota... Have a little 4x4 tacoma but it doesn't have enough guts to pull my car trailer.It barely pulls my bass boat. The Tundra is a half ton truck and really in my opinion would not be safe to pull the enclosed car trailer either. On the highway big trucks give sway when you go around them.
with the new transmission setups of 6 or 8 speeds the gas trucks have come around. More horsepower , lower rpms and better fuel mileage. the difference in fuel prices to the diesels make it almost a wash to go gas. Less maintenance cost, cheaper buying price.
Dodge has been repainted and only has 147k on it. Runs great.0 -

I bought this Chevy 2500 back in 2000. I had to special order it to get the 373 rear I wanted. 18 years later it is still solid as ever. I ordered it with factory tow package and it tows great. The only reason I bought the new one is this one is 2 wheel drive and the new one is a 4X4 and has 4000 pounds more towing capacity. I have had many people try to buy this one, but its not for sale. The Chevy trucks have been good to me. 0
