Golden Globe awards last night!

    I'd venture to say that 99.9% of the pukes attending/watching the GG political indoctrination session have no idea who Audie Murphy even was, especially his actions that preceded his acting career. What's even sadder is that I doubt they would even care.

    You are right Chris.

    Audie was a hell of a guy and real hero. The thing about him is he did not just do one heroic act he did many spread out over a long time period. No one in that hollywood crowd is fit to carry his spit.


    I was just looking at who won what. I have not seen 95% of the shows both TV and Movies that were listed and most of the "Stars" I have no clue who they are.

    I guess I am just not in-touch[^]

    I saw that Bl^ckpanther the Movie didn't win, I am surprised no body has whined raycism yet.

    Sam, the historical records that I've read (Yeah, I actually read something besides GB and books with lots of pictures.) really show how he repeatedly rose to the occasion when things got interesting. His humble beginnings certainly didn't hold him back. The multiple rejections he experienced, primarily due to age and stature, before entering the Army only go to show, once again, that ya can't always judge a book by it's cover.
    So many such folks get lost to history. We have a young deputy here who is a direct descendant of MOH recipient Marine Sgt. John Basilone. He had no idea about his great uncle or his actions in the Pacific. To his credit, once he was "schooled up", I gave him several of the books about his uncle to read (and he did). He's a squared away kid with a good future. I could swear that he started standing a little taller afterward.

    I know about Audie Murphy, in fact I am often teaching young folks about him and would love to attend some of the events Nunn writes about here on the forum.

    But what are these golden globe awards you speak of?
