Is it time for no borders?
Well, is it? Our Government leaders seem to think so, Europe seems to think so, Nancy and Chuck think so. How will this all end within the next 10-12 years? Democrats seem to think everyone should be able to go anywhere they please Nations, Laws or immigrant status be dammed. Full speed ahead let them all in. We are going to see in the not to distant future a (D) Congress a (D) Senate and a (D) POTUS. It is just the way it works.
Is there a way to keep our national identity and preserve the value of our citizenship? Or, is the tide too far in the other direction to matter at this point?????

It will take really a Global Cleansing, which won't happen. Some of the Euro nations like Poland are standing strong but the USA is past half way down that road. When the democrats wanted to toughen up the border and actively try to stop illegal immigration from south of our border the republicans fought it. The republicans didn't want to interrupt the steady supply of cheap labor.
Now, when the republicans want to strengthen the boarder and toughen up on illegal immigration the democrats are fighting it for votes.

I think that a lot of folks are just confused. No one is saying that we don't need borders; what the liberals are saying is that anyone who wants to, can just walk into this country & we should welcome them.
Building a fence or wall has never worked to keep people out; look at the Great Wall of China, the Roman Wall, & the Maginot Line.
What we need is: immigration reform & a virtual wall. From 1924-1965, we have restricted the flow of immigrants by requiring those who want to enter the US to complete paperwork &, in most cases, get a sponsor who will support them if they are unable to do so themselves. Since 1965, we have thrown out most of the rules, & the annual limits have been increased. We now take in more refugees than the rest of the world combined.
The "virtual wall" will look a lot like "Real ID". To get a job, to rent an apartment, to get public benefits, you will need to produce a valid Real ID card that shows that you are a legal resident. Those without a card will likely self deport, because they won't be able to find a job or a place to stay.
If a business now hires an illegal, all we do is fine them $250. They consider that a cost of doing business. If we put violators in Federal prison for 2 years, it won't take long before everyone else decides that they need to validate who they hire.
Where are we going to put people? Many large cities pay the poorer states to bury their trash. Cities in the Northeast pay to have their human waste taken by train tank cars to poor states, where it is ..... um, I don't know what they do with it. We have to make some big changes, or we will be up to our chins in excrement!
