Damn USPS
Last Monday I mailed both of my sons and granddaughter Christmas cards containing a check for Christmas. Six days later they still have not received them. They live just 2 states away from me.
Never again.
UPDATE: 13 days since mailing them on the 17th. 2 still undelivered. Granddaughter received hers on Wednesday 26th. 9 days to travel 700 miles.
Never again.

My experience is different. Monday morning I ordered two 100 ounce silver bars from Oklahoma City. Over $3 grand. USPS all the way.
I picked them up in my post office in Marshall NC on Thursday afternoon. Great service.0 -
Mailed my Son in Boulder, CO. His Christmas gifts, last Wed. from little podunk Mt city,TN.(Told would be there by 12/24.) He called me yesterday afternoon, got them.
It was expensive though, $18.00 for a few #'s. (3?) Guess it was the box size. Roughly 1-1 1/2 sq/ft.0 -
Damn UPS. Ordered two items which were shipped from the other side of town. UPS sorted it wrong. 4 days to get across town, if it actually arrives Monday.

We have had the same bad luck with mailing cards from Montana to grandkids in Spokane. Yes,6-8 days later,and the card gets returned,'unable to deliver'.[:(!][:(!][:(!]
We said enough. We now mail everything in a flat rate priority envelope with tracking number. They get it the second day. So far no problems.0 -

I dont think even they can explain their mail routes.. After we closed the bookstore we still had hundreds of books we needed to move so listed them on that awful other auction site.. I mail 10-20 each week,,Last Monday, I mailed several to Commiefornia , Michigan, North Dakota and Georgia. Everyone had their books by Thursday except 2 customers in Georgia,,the closest to me,, hey will not deliver until tomorrow,, a solid week,,while the left coast delivered in 3 days 0 -
I often track packages from Atlanta area to Albuquerque. Usually gets from there to here in two days, takes two or three more to make it across town.

Just as in most online reviews, you mostly see posts from folks with a bad experience...
We rarely hear about the millions of packages shipped without error. I've shipped a butt load of packages, both firearms and not. I've only had 2 packages go awry..

Never a problem until this year. Mailed family bible with very old newspaper clippings to wife's brother in Houston from Monroe, NY priority on 17th. Can't be replaced. Finally turned up in Dallas today. I guess things went to hell in Jersey City. I hope it makes it to Houston eventually or I am in deep dodo. 0 -

First, the USPS does a great job with what they are charged to do, but sometimes.....
Our latest saga with the USPS. They changed the routes up here about 6 months ago. Our "new" carrier was giving us mail for our neighbors...repeatedly. Tried calling the post office and either it was busy or no one would answer. (which is an ongoing problem)
So I went to the post office and talked with a supervisor about it, about 2 months ago. Starting about 2 weeks later I was not receiving ANY mail in my mail box. We have had problems with carriers over the years and because of that we have a P.O. Box, where important mail goes. Didn't think much of not getting mail for a while, since it is mostly junk mail anyway. But after a few weeks, we knew something was amiss.
Signed up for "informed delivery" where they send you and email with a picture of the mail you are supposed to receive in the next day or two. Got the email, with pictures of mail we were supposed to receive, but still no delivery. Went back to the post office (since they still do not answer the phone) and talked to someone there, who assured me that the supervisor would call me after talking to the carrier. No call, no mail.
Went back to the post office and talked to another supervisor and found out that "someone" had put a tag on our sorting box that said we did not have a mail receptacle. That carrier had been delivering mail for 4 months before my first complaint, he KNEW we had a mail box (receptacle). He had been "returning to sender" ALL of our mail.
That supervisor could not officially say that the carrier did it in retaliation for me complaining about him miss-delivering mail, but "unofficially" well.....we now get our mail delivered to our mail box. So far.0 -

Just one of the services that disappeared years ago. If you had a P.O. box ALL of your mail went to the box not just the mail addressed to the box. When the carriers had finished casing the mail they pulled the box mail & gave it to the clerks who then put it in the box.
Don't remember when that ended but maybe around the time they stopped special delivery mail. Third class mail was forwarded locally. There were a lot of small service changes like that that few people noticed. Death of a thousand cuts.0 -

Something like that should have used "REGISTERED" mail service- same as cash or negotiable bonds.
When someone buys a car, do they just walk into a dealership and say "Sell me a car, just any car will be fine."?0 -
It is surprising how the service is so inconsistent.
I use USPS Priority mail exclusively. I mail an item to an address in my state about 100 miles away and it will take 4 days to get there.
I mail the same item to Florida and it will be there in 2 days.0 -

Mobuck, you are right. Will know better next time. Package was delivered today, Dec. 24th at 4:37PM in Houston.
Buy a car, no way. Been buying a new Chevy Pickup every 4 or 5 years since age 25. Usually custom order. I am 75 now. [:)]0 -
I've used USPS quite a bit and have had great luck with them.
But I have heard horror stories. Knock on wood, not for me yet.0 -

That one is going to hit ecommerce hard including me!
I often ship our most popular product https://www.spicetac.com/toolcraft-black-nitride-ar15-bcg-556 Priority Mail using the flat rate padded envelope. A price increase of 45c is really big. In fact that is more than a 6% increase!
There's a few prices that went down though. It may all be a wash in the end, who knows!0 -

If you have a PO box, you have to GO and GET your mail, and you pay a fee for the box.
If you let the PO BRING your mail to your house , it's free.
Makes a lot of sense, in a way only the Federal government thinks!!

Really depends on how close you live to a hub, or how close the sender lives to a hub. And it depends which hub gets it. Really hit or miss. 0 -
I got parts from Rock Auto from Azusa, California in 7 days, including Christmas Day, via FedEx.
A letter to a GB member about three hours away has not been received sent 10 days ago.0 -
I know that 10 years ago there was talk about the Post Office going out of business. Nobody was using first class mail any more, for personal letters, because everybody was using email.
And, UPS and FedEx were taking over all the package deliveries. And the Post Office was losing money every year. Lots of money.
But I think USPS has been resurrected. I met the mailman at the mail box in October and in his car were 21 packages, and every one was Amazon. Little boxes, great big boxes, in between boxes. So, the internet has come to the rescue of the USPS.0
