On the US side of the wall, you build 1000 yard rifle ranges.
Back to back firing lines. 10 benches face east, 10 benches face west.
High dirt berms at the end of the 1000yd target areas.
Free use for: Vets, LEO's, American citizens over the age of 12.
Everyone else pays 50 cents for each shot taken.
Range "cleaning" done every Monday by deportees on the way back south.

The design of some walls had 4 or 5 feet of concrete as a wall "footing".
Bring a 20' ladder or even an 8 foot ladder the intent is to keep people from driving across in cars / truck loaded with people and drugs.
The wall slows them down and illegals are open to defensive tactics. I'd personally like to see K9 patrols with dogs who can climb ladders.

There was never going to be "a wall". After all, the border with Mexico is 1,954 miles long. We have already built about 650 miles of "wall", but some sections are incomplete, decaying, or can be easily climbed or bypassed.
Even the Draft Dodger understands that the best that he can do is build "sections of a wall", in places that would discourage a small percentage of illegals. The current amount in dispute, $5 billion, is only supposed to build 215 miles of wall, in the Rio Grande Valley & near Laredo. Farmers there have threatened to challenge eminent domain in court, so, even with funding, not a lot of new fence will be built for years. So, this is basicly a political whizzing contest, & the Draft Dodger has already publicly said, "this government shutdown is on me".
As others have said, no border that is not under constant guard can stand for long. So, really no point in extending the fence. What we need to do now is concentrate on identifying & deporting all illegals inside the country.
I'd like to increase the penalty for hiring an illegal raised from a $250 fine to 2 years in prison. Rent or sell a house/apartment to an illegal? --- 2 years in prison. Rent or sell a car to an illegal? --- 2 years in prison. It won't take long before our visitors start to "self deport". I think $5 billion would go a lot further if spent on enforcement, there's no need for a spending bill to do that.

I hear morons say, why build a fence, they will just use ladders.
I say, why lock your doors, they will just break in. If you make it easier for them they will flood you with crime.
I have always heard, "Locks only keep honest people honest."
Therefore: If you make it easy then you will get far worse than you expect.
Put up fences, locking gates, lock your house, garage, cars etc.

While we are there, you can keep an eye out for drug-runners walking on my property, carrying backpacks full of drugs.
The vast majority of people opposing the wall HAVE ZERO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT! They haven't been there, don't live near the border, don't work near the border, and know very few people who do. The media LIES about almost everything concerning border crossers!

Neal, I've felt that way for a log time. If government free stuff was added to that, being an illegal wouldn't be so attractive. The problem I believe would be the states, cities, and courts accepting this. We can't even financially punish sanctuary cities. 0 -

The Germans simply WENT AROUND the Maginot line. Just like the Mexicans simply WENT AROUND the existing border wall / fence to enter the U.S.

Not even close to the same thing as a wall on the U.S. southern border. ie": Maginot Line had bunkers, artillery, underground tunnels etc. it did work and stopped the Germans from going through but it didn't keep them from going around.

So how about this... if you get caught coming in to the US cross the river, over the wall, through a tunnel.. and you get caught: You will be put in to a hard labor camp...building a 20 ft wall. Materials will be covered at no extra cost to them. 0 -
The wall is only one of the needed deterrents . I could believe even the least effective.
What has to happen is policy changes on how illegals are treated in this country. Not that difficult to figure out either. The list is short. Make sure they do not get jobs, medical care (unless an emergency), no anchor babies, or welfare.
With no incentive to come, they will stay home.

Yep, I built a 6-foot high block fence around my first house and instead of asking the neighbors to share the cost, I asked them for three feet of their property. Which they gladly gave to me... (I really needed three more feet on each side of my house)0 -

One time, we were at the ranch shooting. We saw some drug carriers come onto the property, not even 100 yards from the targets we were shooting (about 200 yards from us.) They looked at us, and just kept walking, but weren't intimidated at all that we were 3 people with 20 guns, shooting in their direction. They didn't care!
